Update A bike race has been postponed in Hungary

The Giro d'Italia has become the biggest cycling race postponed because of the coronavirus outbreak so far.

The race was scheduled to start in Hungary in May but the country has declared a state of emergency.

Race organisers say a decision on rescheduling the event will not be made before 3 April.

"All parties have agreed that they will work together to enable the Giro d'Italia to depart from Hungary at a later time," organisers RCS Sport said.

The first three stages of the 2020 Giro were planned to take place in Hungary, before moving to Italy for the final 18 stages.

Briton Simon Yates, who led the 2018 edition of the race for much of event before falling away late on, had been lined up to compete for his Mitchelton-Scott team, while Britain's Team Ineos were also due to take part.

But snooker goes on! That peculiar British cue sport's tour is in Gibraltar this weekend and the matches are being held in a small hall before a gathering limited to 100. The next tournament is in Wales and, so far, still a go, but that is followed by one in Beijing and that has already been canceled. The World Championships, which take up two weeks plus in late April and early May and are carried in their later rounds by the BBC are held in Sheffield, England, and are still on as of now, but could be held in an empty theater (the Crucible, a salute to Sheffield's steel manufacturing past).

Now Tenpin Bowling has suspended play

The United States Bowling Congress has announced the Masters, Senior Queens and Convention have been postponed, while the USBC Open and Women’s Championships will delay their starts until at least May 1.

The move comes amid the coronavirus crisis that has hit the nation and has canceled many sporting events across the country.

The USBC Masters, which is the final major of the PBA Tour season and was set to begin on March 24, will now take place at some point later in the year, USBC announced. The same is true for the USBC Senior Queens and USBC Convention.

When the NBA suspended its season on Wednesday due to coronavirus, commissioner Adam Silver initially set a 30-day timeline. One month from the stunning decision to postpone all games, the league would reevaluate the outbreak of the virus and its ability to safely resume its season, with or without fans in arenas, before deciding what to do. Things got a whole lot grimmer on Sunday, though, when the CDC recommended that all gatherings of at least 50 people be postponed for eight weeks.

With that recommendation in mind, the NBA is reportedly looking further down the line. The league is beginning to view mid-to-late June as the best-case scenario and is scouting arena dates in August, which would likely be when the later rounds of the postseason were played, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Additionally, the G League is expected to cancel the remainder of its season, and the players have been informed that they would be paid for all scheduled games, per Wojnarowski and Malika Andrews.

An NBA game obviously includes far more than 50 people even without fans in the arena. Teams can have up to 17 players each with them on the bench, and then there are coaching and medical staffs, broadcasters and any other essential personnel in the building.

NBA in current talks on how to handle the COVID-19 situation.

THe New York Yankees is reporting that one of their Minor League Players has been tested positive for COVID-19.

I expect the Sports talk outlets to be all over this for this week.

ESPN Radio didn't give it a mention when I listened for an hour this afternoon. All NFL, all the time, mostly with Stephen A. Smith ranting about the Cowboys and their "insulting" $33 million, one-year offer to QB Dak Prescott. "Sit out the damn season!" Stephen A. kept shouting.

Crisis? What crisis? ESPN knows what really matters!

Pre recorded??? Live?? If ESPN Radio was live then they would be talking about how many people from the NBA, NHL and XFL have been tested positive for COVID-19.

Stephen A's radio show is just re-airing clips from First Take as I understand.

100 percent live. ESPN Radio's hosts are determined to keep the focus on sports for an audience of sports fans, and sports fans don't want to hear about that other stuff. They're too busy studying free agency and the draft for clues on how to assemble next season's fantasy roster.
