Tokyo has no 'Plan B' for Games despite coronavirus (Note this affects NBC Sports)

Wow. So WWE sacrifices the live gate to preserve the PPV? Interesting, but it kind of makes sense in that so many storylines have to either end or get started at WrestleMania every year that postponing to the fall wouldn't work and canceling altogether would leave too much up to the weekly TV shows.
 
New York State's COVID-19 confirmed case count has almost doubled today. They were around 980 when I looked late last night, and are at 1706 now. There are 814 confirmed cases in New York County (Manhattan), compared to 380 confirmed cases in Westchester County.

And it's partly because they now have drive-in testing that's pretty quick & easy. Don't tell DT...he hates bad news.

But for those of us that live in NYC the mayor told us just last weekend that the city was open for business, bars and restaurants were very packed all weekend. the mayor was still going to the gym as recently as Monday. Even for people that live in the tri-state that don't live or work in the city he is still a very important figure.

ATHENS, March 18 (Reuters) - The International Olympic Committee is facing its strongest headwinds in decades as it briefed national committees on Wednesday on the state of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics amid the coronavirus pandemic, with voices of dissent growing louder.

The IOC has remained committed to staging the Tokyo Games as planned from July 24-Aug. 9, saying on Tuesday after a meeting with international sports federations that measures against the virus were delivering results.

The coronavirus has so far killed more than 7,500 people and infected about 200,000, with the epicentre now in Europe.

The Olympic body has refused to publicly consider cancellation or postponement as possible options, even as other major events including soccer’s Euro 2020 and Copa America and the French Open tennis grand slam announced postponements on Tuesday.

New York City has a gas leak and New Rochelle has a spark. Now let's hope that spark doesn't travel up the fuse.

It might take some countries to announce a boycott for the IOC to cave. Also, they should highly consider moving the 2022 Winter Olympics out of Beijing and to somewhere like Salt Lake City or Vancouver, both of which have hosted recent Winter Olympics

Certainly not on two years' notice. Venues for many Winter Olympic sports are either temporary by design or wind up being repurposed or torn down after a few years due to lack of use. Does recreational ski jumping even exist? Do Utahns love biathlon so much that thousands of them demand a course to ski on while lugging their rifles around? Not easy getting everything just as it was by winter 2022. And then there are contracts to be signed and other logistical challenges.
