Tom Brady retires from the NFL and speculation to appear on Fox Sports as NFL Pundit is in talks.

Note in the articles some have speculated that he will appear on Fox Sports as NFL Pundit.

Will Tom Brady be on Fox's Super Bowl broadcast in 2023? QB's retirement opens door for TV debut

This is as soon as he retires from the NFL.

And just like that, the retired Tom Brady transitions from being considered the greatest player in NFL history to the most interesting person in sports television.

It is not only that he is Tom Brady, but the situation that he and Fox Sports have created is intriguing. As The Post exclusively reported, Brady has a 10-year, $375 million contract with the network to be its No. 1 game analyst next to Kevin Burkhardt.

What's the before/after date of him signing with a new team? I'll say July 1, I'll take Before, and say it'll be the 49ers.

Like coaching staff for the 49ers if this is true? I doubt Brady would play at this point given that the majority of his team mates were either not born yet or were babies when he was a rookie for the New England Patriots.

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft wants Brady to sign a one-day contract so he can retire as a Patriot.

Greg Olsen has proven himself as a stellar analyst. I hope he is not demoted or terminated. Would Brady be critical of substandard QB and team play, or criticize officiating?

The question is has Brady been preparing for the analyst role during this time? That's something we don't know. It takes time to learn all of the aspects of being an analyst. Just being good at the game doesn't mean you'll be a good analyst. There are resources available in the booth that he needs to learn.

My take is they should bring Brady in to do some of the pre-game & post game chat during the Super Bowl, and get him warmed up for this new role. He's closer to Mahomes and Hurts than anyone else on their crew, so he has a unique perspective. That said, he may not be ready to criticize anyone currently playing because he's so close to them. BTST Brady has been doing radio commentary for a few years, so he isn't completely unfamiliar with the job.

Unfortunately, Super Bowl LVII will probably be Olsen's last game with Fox.

Television sports is a very ego-driven business, even more so than most other fields within television. Olsen might not accept a demotion to a number two analyst, even if his pay doesn't go down or even go up.

But if NBC's analyst for "NFL Sunday Night Football", Cris Collinsworth, retires from his TV job in the off-season (I think Collinsworth is in his seventies and is probably thinking about retirement if he is that old), I could see NBC getting Greg Olsen to work alongside Mike Tirico should Collinsworth retire.

I think the only way Olsen stays with Fox is if the network decides on a three-man lead announcing team with Kevin Burkhart on play-by-play, and Greg Olsen and Tom Brady are both analysts.

Three-man commentary booths have occurred in the NFL before: Merlin Olsen (any relation to Greg?) and John Brodie worked with Curt Gowdy on some NFL playoff games on NBC (including a Super Bowl) in the late 1970's; while "NFL Monday Night Football" during most of it's years on ABC had a three-man booth, the most famous trio being Frank Gifford, Don Meredith, and Howard Cosell (1971-73 and again 1977-83).

I thought Brady has a guaranteed contract for the #1 job when he stops playing, regardless of who's in that spot now.

Collinsworth just turned 64 (born 1/27/1959). I don't know when his current deal is up.

I don't know Olsen's contract situation, but he knew going in that the top job would be temporary. I would think/hope that Fox has already taken care of him. Nobody expected him to be this good so soon.

Including for Fox, who used three man booth at one time, circa 2002-05: Joe Buck, Troy Aikman and Cris Collinsworth.

I highly doubt Brady is coming back. He's won 7 Super Bowls and more playoff games that can be counted. All those playoff games are like playing 3 more seasons. He knows how difficult it is to win the Super Bowl and he's got nothing left to prove. He's the GOAT...

Ego is a powerful thing. We're talking about a man who put playing football above his marriage. He'd be smart to call it a career, but it won't shock me if he signs with another team.

It's speculation to say his marriage busted up because he wouldn't retire. That may have happened anyway.

I'm sure he may get the itch to want to play come Summer, but even Brady knows he has to stop sometime. His new deal with FOX would indicate that he's ready to move on...

IIRC, he signed that deal with Fox after the 2021 season, before he decided to play one more year. They hired Greg Olsen basically to keep his seat warm. Again, nobody ever thought that the inexperienced Olsen would be this good.

Keep in mind there are more outlets for his talents than TV. The NFL also has radio deals with three different radio networks.

Olsen may cool his heels as the #2 analyst on Fox for awhile, or maybe do some major college work. But it's increasingly possible that the #1 CBS job may open up after next season. Tony Romo has gone from mediocre to awful with his new contract extension, and speculation is that Jim Nantz is already fed up. He's had a few meetings with CBS Sports execs already. Won't shock me if he's gone this time next year if he doesn't get his act together. He needs to stick with game analysis, which he's good at, and knock off the "comedy." He is not, and never will be, the Charles Barkley of the NFL.
The NFL also has radio deals with three different radio networks.
Officially, they only show Westwood One, SiriusXM, and Entravision. Only WW1 is on actual radio, nationwide and in English, while Entravision AFAIK is the only national feed in Spanish. Compass Media and one other one I believe are regional and only air certain teams, such as the Cowboys and Raiders.

And even if they do air games, if a local game or other event is on at the same time, football will be blacked out. This happens a lot with KQFN Phoenix with NASCAR on Sunday afternoons. Besides, this station has signal issues that make Prime Times game hard to hear.

Better off ponying up the $40 a year for NFL Plus and get all game broadcasts that are on radio, local and national.

From what I can see, Westwood only actually does the prime time games. The Sunday afternoon games are spun off to USA and Compass.
IIRC, the Sunday afternoon games on KQFN Phoenix were from Westwood One.

So Brady will take a year off before joining the Fox booth. I wonder if they have an out clause if he is as bad as everyone thinks he will be.
