Tom Brokaw Awarded Presidential Medal of Freedom

Goes to show you, slant the news in favor of the current administration, and you'll get a Presidential award. It's good to know that the current President recognizes the people willing to lie on his behalf, and rewards them.

Will you be piling on the sarcasm if President Cruz or President Paul does the same for Roger Ailes or Bill O'Reilly in 2018?

You realize that he retired before this administration took office, right?

Something about blood boiling, hopping mad or something like that, but that is just how it looks.

Good for Tom Brokaw, one of the last of the classy news anchormen.
I was more of a Peter Jennings guy myself but a well deserved award for Tom.

Could you please explain this message?

President Cruz = Ted Cruz
President Paul = Rand Paui (both hypothetical 44th presidents of the United States, both Republicans)

Roger Ailes = president of Fox News Channel
Bill O'Reilly = noted conservative commentator employed by Fox News Channel
Fox News Channel = popular cable network known for coverage with a conservative, generally Republican lean

Piling on the sarcasm = pretending to approve of the presidential honors selection of Brokaw ("It's good to know..") when meaning exactly the opposite.

Idiot = me, for thinking that Mario500 really didn't know what I meant.

^Thank you for your explanation of the message. By the way, there was no need to refer to your self as an "idiot" (whether it be in that instance or any other instance); I really did not know what you meant by "President Cruz" and "President Paul" and would rather have you explain them than rely on assumptions.

No, I'm certain that there will be plenty of liberals who'll take care of that should it happen.

Actually, since I never, ever watch network TV news, I was not aware of that. So, the reward wasn't specifically for his lies to help Obama, it was just his lies to further the Democrat Party's agenda in general. It's good to see that the Democrat Party rewards its shills, even if it doesn't happen until after they've retired.

Yeah, he kept his hair nicely combed, and wore nice ties. And he seldom mispronounced the words he read off of the Teleprompter.

Or so I heard.

Or maybe his "lies" helped to further the Republicans. Or he didn't lie at all and you're just making crap up again. That's my approach to sarcasm. Hope you enjoy it.

When someone you approve of gets elected President, he can give the award to anyone he chooses. That's just ONE of the perks of being President. Along with the house, the car, and the plane.

Did I say that Obama was doing something he didn't have the authority to do? I don't give a damn who gave Brokaw the award. I just don't see where sitting in a chair looking presentable and reading words off of a teleprompter deserves a medal. But, I do see that there is one of two different scenarios at play involving Brokaw, or maybe three. First, Brokaw was responsible for the liberal spin in the newscasts he read, so he's getting his lollypop from the Democrat Party. Second, Brokaw just read what they put in front of him, in which case he was just a Ted Baxter without the goofs. Third, all retired news anchors eventually get some sort of trophy or prize automatically.

Former NBC Nightly News veteran Tom Brokaw

The above quoted phrase is from the Media Bistro article. Supposedly, this is a news site for people in the media but the writer apparently didn't pay attention in high school English.

veteran noun. a person who has had long service or experience in an occupation, office, or the like.

Brokaw may be a former Nightly News presenter, a former Today Show host, a former White House correspondent and a former KNBC newscaster. That makes him a veteran, not a former veteran. He's not even a former employee since he still works for NBC, albeit in a reduced capacity.

And those of you looking for political motives can argue about...

William F. Buckley (Bush Sr.)
Walter Cronkite (Reagan)
Edward R. Murrow (LBJ)
Frank Reynolds (Reagan)
Lowell Thomas (Carter)
Paul Harvey (Bush Jr.)
David Brinkley (Bush Sr.)

This award has never gone to Rush or any other talk show host (unless you count Johnny Carson).

Hmmm...there is Oprah. Obama also gave it to her last year, for her great job getting him elected twice. There's my sarcasm, again.

It's just a medal, people. It's not sainthood.
