Tom Shannon, personality at WKBW and CKLW, passes at 82.

Tommy Shannon, who had stints at WKBW-AM as well as WHTT-FM sandwiched in between a stint at Windsor's CKLW-AM, passed away from cancer on Wednesday at the age of 82. (He also worked at WUFO(Mix 1080/Power 96.5)back when it was known as WXRA-AM.) There's a VERY good story on Shannon's passing in today's Buffalo News.

Keith Radford, who's set to exit WKBW-TV(7 Eyewitness News)in the next few weeks, said he grew up listening to Shannon and wanted to be on the radio just like him; eventually, he did so-doing newscasts on CKLW during Shannon's stint there, and they remained lifelong friends-in fact, Shannon recommended that Radford accept a job offer at WKBW-TV in 1987. Danny Neaverth(who worked alongside Shannon for years at 'KB)and WECK owner Buddy Shula were also quoted in the story.
