Tony and Kris replaced longtime favorites Andy and ALLISON. https://radioinsight.com/headlines/230465/tony-kris-depart-wivk/
I thought when Andy and Allison left, they'd have put in Nash Mornings (or whatever) when Cumulus was really pushing the NASH brand. I'd have figured they would put out an ad. that doesn't commit them to not using a syndicated show.I'm surprised they actaully put a job listing for a new show. Doesn't Cumulus have a national morning show from Atlanta? As much as I would rather see something local, seems like that would be the typical direction for Cumulus to go.
Yet if you look at history, WIVK is at about half the level it was 10 to 12 years ago. The cloud has not been good for them. There are a lot of syndicated options. In fact Cumulus WKDF is running Big D & Bubba. But this station has been very protective about its heritage. And they have two very strong competitors. Given the double digit numbers, they should have money in the budget.

10-12 years ago they were Citadel, using the 100,000 water on 100.3 (leasing from Pirkle) for News-Talk, and I think the only country competitor was Merle. In all fairness, I don't think they has this level of competition 10-12 years ago. Summit and Midwest aren't weak competitors.
Which gets back to why I expect Cumulus will keep mornings local.
The Midwest station is a Class A, and the 65 dbu only covers half of it. On the other hand, the programming team that the late Bill Tanner set up for Summit is very strong and they are now in the top 5 in 25-54 and at a level of about 60% of WIVK's share. In all fairness, I don't think they has this level of competition 10-12 years ago. Joey Tack joins Country WIVK-FM in Knoxville, TN for mornings, effective July 11. The move represents a homecoming for Tack, who spent 15 years with Rhythmic CHR WKHT-FM (Hot 104.5) in Knoxville, holding on-air and Program Director positions. Tack was most recently APD and morning host at Country WLHK-FM (97.1 Hank FM) in Indianapolis, IN. Prior to that, he was PD/midday host at Country KNCI-FM in Sacramento. He was also on-air at Quad Cities, IA-IL, Country WLLR-FM and the former WHTS-FM.
