I wonder if Q 105's will be different than WCBS 101.1 was? 8) ???

How about the "Bad Oldies" format. I think that's what 'SRZ in Sarasota has been doing for awhile.

It's simple to program: Just take the greatest 500 Oldies of all time, and THROW 'EM OUT. Then play everything else.
It's tooth-grindingly bad.

Scott Miller from SRZ saw the writing on the wall and bolted. He's now doing A/C in Memphis. I love how the edict comes down from the mountain to "fine tune" a format, even though they were number one. Note to future programmers: DO NOT MESS WITH PERFECTION!

If you've got a great pot of soup on the stove, don't pour in a cup of anything... not salt, not sugar, not anything! You'll "F" it up. If you're pulling in good numbers, DON'T TINKER!

In my opinion, there are no more oldies stations in either Sarasota or Tampa markets. Closest oldies is 1130 in Bartow, or 106.3 in Brooksville?

The Sarasota CC cluster went to hell when Big Jim left. Even David Jones has to get his fame selling a motor home awning for the side of houses on cable TV. Even Bill O'Reilly mentions him thinking he looks like the former Senator from North Carolina

sounds to me like WSRZ is adding a lot early classic rock stuff like the Allman Bros. Maybe I'm crazy

I still think that just about ALL stations and formats just have too short a play list..... Even the Dove 1320/1450 AM... and that includes music from the 40's...
I hear some of the same songs every day !!!

There are a LOT of one hit wonder songs, and a lot of others good songs that never got into the top 10 on any list, but were played at the time yet they all seem to be ignored... But once in a blue moon or when I get out my own stacks of classic wax I can hear them... even one or two an hour more...

Jimi Hendrix was played in the 60's..... why is it not played now...Same for Iron Butterfly (although I have heard the long version on XM's 60's on 6 on more than one occasion).

I could go on and on with the title and artists of songs that remain ignored today yet were GREAT in their day...

whatever decade you're focusing on... EXPAND THE PLAY LIST...

Happy Turkey day...
