Remember back in the day when everyone was talking about TOH's they thought were "illegal?" I have one now: "WAYV WAIV CAPE MAY ATLANTIC CITY." LOL. That can't be right! Of course, "illegal" might be too strong a term. Eh, shut 'er down anyway! haha

Failing that, can the FCC at least step in and stop them from using that awful low-quality Kelly Clarkson phoner at the top?

I think WAYV has two IDs .. that one you quote is
the WAIV ID (perfectly legal) WAYV's plays also,
in the next break.

Which one of the breaks is the break that is as close to the hour as feasible, at the natural break in program offerings?

You are an old meanie. Next you'll be mentioning WTKU's pattern of burying all mentions of Ocean City, Pleasantville and the letter "W" around :42 while finding time close to :00 to sing "T-K-U-F-M, Atlantic CITYYYYY!!" :-|

It's all in the same break. The script goes something like this:

"This is South Jersey's choice for real music variety, 95.1 WAYV, Atlantic City, home of the phraze that really pays" (insert celebrity clip here) then the jingle plays "95.1 WAYV _waiv cape may_ ATLANTIC CITY!"

Hey, it's a time-honored tradition to gloss over one's real COL. Current FCC regs regarding hyphenated ID's make it a lot easier. One of my favorites from the early 80's "WHTZ Newark New Jersey New York and Connecticut's Hot Rockin' Z-100!" On the flip side.... when the old 97-DJ did their ID, they said "Hackensack" loud 'n proud.

Also back in the 80's.....it was the "WHTZ, Newark, New York City" buried quickly between two spots right before the top of the hour....
Then.....a mighty ".....Z-100, Neeew York" at the Top.
