Total Media acquires Circleville Translastor.

From Radio-Insight:

"Total Media Group buys 100.5 W263AX Circleville OH from Spirit Communications for $20,000. The translator, which currently rebroadcasts Spirit’s Christian CHR “Radio U” 88.7 WUFM Columbus will be relocated to a new site to rebroadcast an HD subchannel of 100.9 WXIZ Waverly."

It will be interesting to see what format Total Media brings to the CHILLICOTHE/WAVERLY Cluster on the purchased translator, they currently have (Hank FM 100.9, Q 100.1, WXIC AM 660/FM 95.9).

The App for the Radio U translator has been submitted. Total Media wants to move to 103.7 and shift the tower location to NE of Chillicothe putting a solid signal over that city. It will rebroadcast a HD-2 channel of 100.9. (I guess that means Total Media has invested in a new transmitter for 100.9 Hank FM as I doubt the one under previous owners could do HD).

If done properly you can just change out the exciter and keep using the old final stages of a really old FM translator. But depending on the age of the old transmitter, the electric bill and the parts expense of an old tube transmitter getting a new transmitter might be a good move financially.
