Toucher and Rich Listeners say "Big Show Worste Sports Broadcaster"

At 5:41PM EST on WBCN 104.1 FM, the fans of Toucher and Rich voted The Big Show, as the worste sports broadcasters. Is this an upset? I thought it would go to D/C or Steve A Smith. Will T/R get enough traction to take over the Big Show sooner than later?

Stands to reason that the #1 Afternoon Drive show, on the Sports station would win.

Glenn & Co. should send them a thank you note for all the promos on FM.
 
Neanderpaul...it was all done by listener voting, including myself voting for the Big Show. The Big Show is awful, they just yell over eachother. Only reason they have such great ratings is due to Boston's love for sports, anyone can succeed on EEI, hell you might even be able to get good ratings there.

Also Toucher & Rich expected the Big Show to get eliminated last week, but the listens votes over-rode their prediction and rode it all the way to the title.

So are the ratings. All T&R did was to validate Arbitron. And you proved the point.

When the Big Show is #1 again, you'll know you had a part in promoting them.

Appreciate the vote of confidence...I'd probably have enjoyed working for WEEI. But, Entercom's got #1 afternoon shows in lots of markets. I wouldn't trade places.
 
oh, im sorry I was unaware you had such good ratings in your current local. I just checked out your myspace and saw you are on the air now, so I dont know whether to be impressed with your multi-tasking skills or your lack of content you put into your show. Oh wait, how many songs do you play an hour? You get what 10 minutes of actual talk time per hour? Guess that doesnt take much prep time.

As far as this contest helping the promote Big Show, thats a friggen joke and a half...trust me the listeners of TnR arent looking for the product that Ordway puts out.

dont get me wrong, Im well aware of the whole "gimmick radio" but they ripped on Calvin Cowherd, Stephen A Smith, and Jim Rome more than they did on the Big Show....its not like they put all their focus on the Big Show.

yea, Ill take notes....where is the section on how to fail over and over again in Boston? Do you have cliffnotes on it? Because I know there is probably alot on it.

I never failed in Boston. Go check it out. I did better than your boys T&R. Once again, only reason I'm not there is Ron wanted to make a change. It's all good. But...feel free to continue in your failed attempts at aggravation. Maybe at some point you'll compose something witty.

Do you believe that you would pull better ratings than them in their slot now? As I am hard pressed to believe this, if you care to direct me towards said ratings.

Also, its so cute how you try to upset me by calling me witt-less, but Im not one to care about your thoughts.

This isn't about me, or what I did there. You want to discuss that? Message me and we'll talk more.

As is often the case, this thread is degenerating from its focus. Which remains the fact that T&R spent a lot of time promoting a show that regularly beats them in the ratings. More than a few people might consider that a bad idea. IMHO...and that's all it is....focus on what you do. If you're spending your days talking about the other guys...you're not only reinforcing their brand, you're not focusing on what you bring to the game.

But what do I know? I'm just a dumb music talent, who plays 12 songs an hour...at what's consistently the highest rated Active Rock station in America. Where in 2 weeks, 50,000 people will join us for our Summer concert. I'll put you on the guest list.
 
well IMHO ripping on other stations makes for great radio....hell i think the BCN-AAF wars of old were amazing. Also, no-one has ever taken shots at Ordway sucking before which makes for a fresher concept.

As far as mentioning other shows and using them to create good material not working, well it seemed to work out ok for O&A, they raked in a few bucks over the years doing it.

And I think I'd rather goto the BCN River Rave than your show.....

hey grammar nazi...yea, im sorry i dont sit here and properly spell things out because i know im getting graded to post my opinion on a messageboard and all.

But its a good point of attack, one ive never come across before...i guess i better go back to college, think they have a class in how to make me care if i use proper grammar on a board?

this is why i was a math major....
 
On a totally different note, and to no longer bash Neaderpaul, I heard that BCN is having trouble selling tickets to River Rave.

Word I heard is 8000 sold? Out of 17,500? Seems low to me but has anyone heard anything?

50,000 for a summer radio show? Who is playing? How much are tickets? 50,000 seems unbelievable almost WHFS - circa 1999 to me...

I remember those wars fondly as well. But...in reality, what did they really accomplish?

When you're #1...someone's always taking shots. And with what Ordway's been going through personally these days, it's just bad form.

So...what you're saying is T&R are ripping off someone else's schtick? And PS...O&A are failing. I'm not slamming them. It's just a fact that they're not doing well. So...how smart is that tactic in the long run?

Well I do have to say I think they could have done a better job with the River Rave line-up, as I dont think many people care about Filter or Everlast anymore. But STP is interesting, and locally Street Dogs are a great band, while Pennywise can put on a good show. I dont know a damn thing about 10 years or the rumble winner this year.
