Bug: maybe ditching FBHW on Q103 and going local in the mornings? Sounds like it's a response to WKLI's recent flip, maybe...

The ad in question says that they are looking for an afternoon drive person....Not mornings....

I think the story is the house cleaing that has started at Townsquare Media. First the Manager retires, then the engineer and I.T. guys are let go, then the producer and afternoon guys at Wtmm, now the Pd on Crush. There will be more. I seems like they are keeping eveyone on edge and picking them off one by one.

Wondering if Terry as PD could he very well change things around at Crush for the Better, because I think mike morgan was just running out of steam.

Someone said he is going to sales?

One of my sources said they wanted Mike to stay on in sales. Can anyone that works for TS confirm? And Let's see if 1) ANY of the on-air staff stays....2) They need to change the am show, not topical at all...Get rid of the damn "Say whaaaaat"...3) If Ellen and Sugar Bear stays...

I do have to say this I think Town Square media should add an Urban/Dance style station to compete with albany broadcasting's jamz 96.3 , sugar bear would be a good PD for it. they need to bring back the old school stuff

what really gets me reporter is that crush fm has been on- air for awhile and they continue to say the all new crush fm getting old they need to start a different approach, maybe change the format a bit , like you said it's up to terry now

..and why the hell is Crush using the reallocated translator on 99.1? What a waste, as the tx sites are the same. Come to think of it, how that be called a translator? 250 watts from the top of Bald Mtn... has a signal more like a small class A. At least put it good use and put 104.5 on there instead, whose signal is el stinko in the valley.

As far as I remember, the "All new" moniker is used for one year. It's been over a year. You are right. Terry WILL make changes. Crush went from a 4.4 down to a 2.2...Something went south, but what? Is it the music, the jocks? I would tweak the format a bit. The morning show is very bland. And I would let go of 2 jocks. And I'm not a fan of vting.

I agree reporter, I have listened to radio since I was a kid, I work at a station and I think Crush FM needs major improvements , get rid of the all new , I think it's a combo of playing too much commercials they play 5 in a row , people want more music less commercials more variety not just 90's music it's the 90's and more stretch out more.....i think Terry will get rid of the morning people the show needs more comedy its too plain , fly 92 morning show has more life to it. Mike Morgan will only let you talk 3 times an hour, also they have been voice tracking alot more then they normally do. I think mike morgan let the station numbers drop

what town square media needs is a station that can compete with fly 92 , maybe a CHR TOP 40 station or a Rhythmic contemporary station. There are alot more youth in the albany, town square reflects mostly to the adult standards audience they need to branch out to the youth more.

I think terry will covert this style and bring this idea to the dan austin I Mean i love the 90's generation but I think Crush FM needs to change its format for sure.

or they can compete with jamz 96.3 which has a 4.0 , TSM needs a Rhythmic contemporary station bring back the old school stuff convert Crush FM into that format, I mean they have sugar bear he knows the style, Sugar bear started Jamz 96.3 as PD he was fired due to that scandal that almost got him killed but still he won't be running the show Terry will be. The only thing is mark, meredith and ellen might not stay for this kind of conversion. I mean for some reason WGNA has been working so country is popular here in certain areas, but if you do the math most people want to hear which is 6.6 % black is the rhythmic contemporary and alot of whites getting into this kind of music format.

As far as the new gig O’Donnell remarks, "I’m very eager to take on the challenge of a new position for a new company and embarking on a whole new adventure. I’m really excited about what we can do and how we can improve things and make the station sound great. The Capitol region in Albany is a great spot for radio and I’m hoping it’s only going to get better."

I am not sure of the full details but pamal didn't like him doing the old school the Urban AC Format that's why jamz 96.3 has a white PD and converted to more hip hop no more old school now. something racial happened that sugar said on the air it was a fight between kiss FM & jamz 96.3 and it was Kevin Callahan & Stacy Rogers who fired him then Dan Austin came in after that and changed everything. Sugar built jamz from the beginning:)

here is the report:

Ron "The Sugar Bear" Williams got canned last week from the Albany Broadcasting Co. radio station that he built into an urban music force in the market.

No reason was given. An 11-year veteran of Albany Broad- casting, Williams was arguably the most influential minority member in the Capital Region media. Not only was he the afternoon drive-time host, but as program director he nurtured WAJZ (96.3 FM) - a country station as late as 1999 - into a recognizable brand closely associated with the African-American community, and hip-hop fans of all races.

One key to the station's success was its omnipresence. People got to know the station and the jocks, as well as the music. The Jamz van is often out in the community, at clubs and on the street. So was Williams. In many ways, he was Jamz.

"JAMZ is done," said Natalie Wonders, aka "The Wonder Woman," a former assistant program director and host who left Albany Broadcasting two months ago. "Without him, it's not the same.

"JAMZ is dead. Rest in peace."

Management shook off any concerns that William's ouster will adversely affect the station. In the eyes of industry types, people are a very disposable commodity.

So why was Williams fired? The station isn't saying. Both newly installed General Manager Dan Austin - who replaced Stacy Rogers last month when she stepped down - and Operations Manager Kevin Callahan declined to give a reason. Company policy and all that.
