Trouble in Seattle for Monti. could she be "Movin" right out the door?

So I heard a big rumor that I am very excited to share with the rest of you. I know that its fun to follow good radio "talent". We have a respect for these people that do the craft well. We are interested right? Well as gross as it is it's also kind of exhilarating to watch [EDIT]
This is how I picture Monti's radio career. It’s terrible and you can’t wait to see how long till it slides all the way to the bottom of the tub and down the drain. While there is nothing I can personally do to speed up the process she might have done it on her own. Did you know that Monti holds a job over at the highly acclaimed Laughs Comedy club in Kirkland? She is the waste of space that introduces the mildly amusing comics that come to Kirkland. She goes on stage and does one, yes I said one tired set week after week. It’s the same material week in and week out. Nothing changed. Just the same bad material over and over again. It only lasts about 5 minutes [EDIT]
and it seams like hours. That’s what her set seems like. [EDIT]
It’s so uncomfortable.

So now that I have set this up for you let me share with you what I heard. Two weeks a go she was doing her "material" and one of the "jokes" she tells is a very timely reference to Terri Schivo. She says something to the effect of "this is what I look like when I sleep" Then impersonates a vegetable. Well as it turns out somebody that works for corporate was there to see her "stand up" material and that certain somebody also has a daughter that was injured several years ago in some sort of accident and didn’t find the joke funny at all. It hit a little to close to home. This certain somebody also holds keys, keys that open up doors to let people out and lock it behind them. So. What does this mean for Monti? Apparently it hasn’t been brought to her attention yet (oops Monti, cats out of the bag) but it will be soon as an "emergency search" for her replacement is in progress. I guess they are in the mind set of having the position filled before they let her go. This would usually be a good business move but aren’t they aware that dead air in the morning gets better ratings? I mean come on guys just pull the plug. Ha Ha it all comes full circle. She does a joke about Schiavo and now it’s her that sits there so full of life and now someone wants to pull the plug on her. After all she is just lifeless. She is a vegetable and not even a good one. She is like a brussel sprout or something. So I say to you Sandusky, I applaud your decision but just speed up the process. Visit her late at night kiss her forehead and pull the plug. Night night Monti!!!!

Actually Brussels sprouts are an excellent source of vitamin C and taste great steamed, with a little butter on them.

In all seriousness here, I have no idea how Monti is doing number wise. Her stint at mornings has been short, but you can probably get some sort of idea from her PM drive numbers. But if her numbers are decent and she is building a solid audience, if this "offended person" decides to fire her over a joke she did in a nightclub, then that person should also lose their job by jeopardizing the future of the station. Like I said though, I have no idea what her numbers are like. It could be that they suck and tossing her to the curb really wouldn't make a difference.

give me a break-- just another jealous person posting crap about MOViN and the success the station is having, especially funny since the person's screen name is "stir-it-up" it should be "I like to stir up a rumor" get a life dude, go back to running your board, think you're about to miss a break, silly board op!

Most companies have some sort of 'moral clause' built into their contracts. Obviously the more brash the station the more leway you get. With MOViN being your 'feel good' station I could see upper brass getting a little ruffled about something like this. Enough to fire her...who knows. I know from a sales staffer that they got upset with the former morning guy because he swore onstage at their old school concert. And not long after that, bam, he was gone.

She is the heritage talent on the station. Although it looks like, and surprised no one has caught on to this, that Maynard (like most PDs) has come in and slowly started to assemble his own staff. So, if I were her, I would keep an eye out.

Ive seen her stand up, yes, its blue. But hey, thats what the kids like these days right?

If this happened it happened late at night at a comedy club -- she wasn't speaking at the Republican National Convention, people... has anyone else been to a late night comedy club? Usually the content is not for someone easily offended... and someone who be offended at a "shivao" joke would be one who would be at the Republican convention.

2. Maynard... Considering when Lisa Adams left the station Monti was really the only staffer they had on air, yeah I'd say Maynard has brought his people in. Monti, Kaz and Billy are the only ones on air that Lisa hired.. the rest are Maynards staff, let's not forget Maynard has had control of the station time wise longer than Lisa...
 
Hilarity ensues as the supporters and haters of Monti come out of the woodwork yet again for a quick wrestle in the mud...

Whether radio jocks embrace it or not, they are public figures. Especially somebody like Monti who clearly is not shy of the spotlight. Her afternoon numbers were something to be praised, and RUMOR is that her morning numbers are nothing special and her afternoon replacement is failing miserably. The bottom line is this...if you are going to put yourself out there, in a place of performance IN THE SPOTLIGHT outside of the confines of the MOViN studio, you MUST conduct yourself in the same manner as your on-air personality.

For her to shed her feel good, nicest person on the planet persona and get up on stage and make crude jokes like that may or may not be detremental to her career. But it's sure as hell inappropriate. Of course she's going to offend somebody...that's what comics do. But if that's not who you are on the air, don't have an identity crisis on stage later that night. Stay true to your on-air personality. Are you every girl's best friend? Or are you a bad-ass? You have to know who you are going to portray.

Once again, as a woman I've always been neutral with Monti. Her afternoon show was feel-good, "it's your girl Monti." I feel that her morning show is one step too far on the estrogen levels, is obnoxious and gives women in radio a bad rap. But if this is how she conducts her stand-up? Geesh.
 
Half the posts about Movin are posted from people who work AT movin. People who are either bitter because they feel they could do a better job, or were FIRED, or are completely delusional cheerleaders of the station. I'm sick of all the Monti bashing. Constructive criticism is fine, but some of the posts lately are just down right malicious.

Big deal about Monti (yawn). I find that story hard to believe, if true, anyway. Haven't you ever been to a station Christmas party where the sales people get hammered and then REALLY tell you what's going on at the station?

There's a big difference in telling a dumb Schiavo joke among people drinking watered-down gin and tonics versus belting one out while handing out t-shirts and beef jerky.

I have a connection with the station, but, I don't work there... I am a little bias in my love for MOViN --- but, that's just because I can!

And yes the anti-MOViN posts started on May 1st 2006-- mostly from just let go bitter KLSY folks.. now those same folks still bash it, the ones Lisa wouldn't hire, and Maynard still wont hire bash it.. the has beens in radio who hate the young "real" non-jock attitude hate it...

There's just jealous...
 
I'll admit that MOVIN' is about #6 on my list of stations to scan to when there's nothing better on. Every once in a while they put on some bouncy little ditty that I recognize.

Now, I'm not a radio pro, but what strikes me is that it seems like their airstaff are just trying too hard. I'm not saying they sound like they're reading from a how-to guide and they're definitely not the kids from C-89 (which actually ranks higher on my scan list), but they clearly don't have the same polish as other talent in town.

I heard a commercial for their morning show the other day featuring one of the gals going on about putting on her "fancy panties" in an effort to arouse her husband(?). I guess it is geared toward today's reality TV idea of "getting to know you" through Too Much Information, but it ends up sounding like the desperate high school girl who put out in order to make "friends." I would wonder if that is the same gal that does the aforementioned blue comedy material and if this really isn't a desperate attempt to be liked.

I sure don't remember Shellie Hart ever talking about her lingerie on air -- and definitely not in a commercial.
 
The nightclub thing reminds me of when Caroline Rhea was on Sabrina Teenage Witch + doing standup tours. She appears at Giggles and starts in on the "blue" stuff ... then zaaa-zoop.....makes eye contact with a 10-year old "Sabrina" fan in the audience with her mom & dad. Caroline's act comes to a screeching halt as she tries to "edit" material on the fly ... finally offering the parents all kinds of "Sabrina" perks if they would leave for just five minutes so she could go back to the "A" material!!

Have no idea who or what you are all about. They are talking about you. Thats half the battle. Now, if only you could get some promotion behind whatever you do!!

Having read the post before it was edited..honestly it turned my stomach at times, and I felt the need to take a shower. If it's true or not, there are some details the rest of us don't need to know about.
 
Sorry to see you all are so offended with a simple analogy. Bottom line is this. I heard something and I passed it along. Don’t kill the messenger. Isn’t that what this board is for? I personally don’t care for Monti. She is in my opinion a girl that is on the air trying to do her thing and just not doing it very well. I am not in the demo so she is not catering to me. I just think she needs some tweaking. Why does everyone that has an opinion have to be a former KLSY employee or a board op? I promise you I am neither. I just have an opinion and I don’t think she is very good. I passed it along because that is what this board is all about. If you can’t take it sorry, didn’t know you were so sensitive. I am not hating just spewing the truth. As for the rumor I heard, not sure if it’s true or not. Take it with a grain of salt.

And if you aren't, you MUST say who you are for credibility. Even though nobody else will.

I am a full-time jock, FEMALE, in the market, in the demo. And I think The Ladies Room and MOViN is a crock. And I'm entitled to my opinion, just like mamma. Even though my thoughts seem to be coated in a bit more logic than the Monti/MOViN supporters.

Bring on the insults...I'm lying, right? I'm actually an overnight board op in Spokane. Puh-lease.

For someone who doesn't work for Movin, the station seems to be the focus of most of your posts. Most posts are about the "raw" deal the old morning show received. You've also used the real first name of some of the jocks in some of your posts. I almost hope you have some sort of connection to the station...
 
Monti and Movin the talk of the town look at the hits on this stupid post. when they are makin up things about you you know you are doing just fine. Mamma told you Monti was the real deal and as always mammaknowsbest.
