True Oldies 106.7-WYAY is really surprising alot of people with the big upswing in the latest ratings book. Like I said before, Atlanta LOVES Oldies. The past stations such as Fox 97 and Cool 105.7 were killed off due to the very smal;l playlists! True Oldies 106.7 has a large playlist of over 5,000 songs! Also, I think adding Spiff Carner really helped!

No question Spiff has helped because he is a reconaizble name in Atlanta,it just isn't the same without Rhubarb Jones on there. I wish country music were still on WYAY.

I totally disagree. With all due respect to Mr. Carner, the up tick is due to the baby boomers getting their music back. In one year, this station will fall to earth, as FOX and COOL did.

The credit actually goes to Scott Shannon for NOT playing the same old songs over and over and over and over. I have listened to True Oldies and am shocked by the width and breadth of the library. I don’t think I have heard the same song twice. Which for that format is amazing.

I completely agree, Neil. The station succeeds because of it's depth and hits Boomers right in the musical wheelhouse. I have also been shocked at how infrequently I hear a repeat. Not sure I agree, though, on it coming down to Earth so soon. The River - which is also a Boomer station - is possibly the most boring radio station in existence and I would have expected it to begin it's slide a while ago, yet it's still going very strong. If anything, I would think True Oldies could start having a big effect on 97.1, Kaedy Keily notwithstanding.

Remember - 12 plus numbers mean absolutely nothing. Where are the station's demos?

If they're largely age 55 plus, little, if any advertising will follow.

That's reality folks.

Guys,I think when its all said and done you will find
that there might have been some mis-appropiated diaries
that we're filled out to benefit Scotty's playhouse.
The guys in the dark suits are looking into it as you write

I agree that the biggest factor of WYAY`s (True Oldies 106.7) ratings surge has been the very large (5000 song) Oldies playlist on there. I have always said this! Just as I have talked about Cox killing Fox 97 off with a 97 song playlist! Cheap Channel didn`t do much better with Cool 105.7. IT IS SO EASY!!! To be a successful Oldies station, you need a huge playlist and some famous d.j.`s from the area. I see WYAY-FM continuing to grow. I also see True Oldies 106.7 having a local morning show sometime in the not too distant future!

I am surprised that Bull 94.9 doesn`t go after Rhubarb! Has he talked to them about a job?

He can't talk to them or anyboby else about a radio job until April1 of next year when his contract with Citadel runs out, unless CC is willing to pay for his buyout.

Oh I see.... How about a T.V. job? He used to be the ring announcer on NWA/World Championship Wrestling matches back in the late 1980`s/ early 1990`s...... Whatever happened to his job at CBS TV 46 in Atlanta? Back in the early 2000`s, he came on there several times on the local morning news. He had long segments and was very entertaining.... Does he still work at all with TV 46 CBS WGCL?

I remember he talked about working WCW matches and he did come on CBS 46 for a coupple of years but in 2003 or 2004 they ended that deal. He did appear on Good Day Atlanta one morning as a guest meadoroligist and he just recently did the local segments with Ken Cook and Russ Spencer on the Jerry Lewis Telethon on CW 69.

No country will NOT be back on WYAY-FM-True Oldies 106.7! The new Oldies format has been a big ratings success. In a short matter of time, WYAY-FM is really growing with the Oldies format. I do keep hearing that Cheap Channel may do a classic Country format on 105.3. I don`t know if this is true. I guess that they could call it WMAX- 105.3- The MAX in Country!

unless the plan to move the legend off of 96.7 the worst fm signal in Atlanta,I don't see that happening. That would be good if they chanced 105.3 again, enough of thisa spanish jiberish.

Well, I keep hearing more and more about WMAX 105.3 going Country! They already have spanish on the old Cool 105.7 Fm!
