Trump supporters accused SNL of committing 'hate crimes' against former president in bizarre FCC complaints

This reminds me of a complaint call that came in when a station I was working for was running a "Secret Sound" contest.

The caller pointed out that the contest - which challenged listeners to identify a sound to win a prize - discriminated against the hearing impaired.

If what SNL has done nearly weekly for the past 45+ years could truly be considered a "hate crime", think of the amount of lawsuits from several handfuls of celebrities, politicians and public figures that would have been levied against that show long before now. Same with past shows like In Living Color and Mad TV which could be even more cutting and ruthless when spoofing people and subject matter than SNL.

For that matter, most late night talk shows and any number of celebrity impersonators would be out of work if what they do could be considered a hate crime. This is merely a case of thin-skinned people not wanting their politicians of choice being questioned or cast in any degree of what they consider a negative light, all while they have the audacity to call supporters of the other political party "snowflakes".

Damn that's where the Trump administration called for NBC to have their license questioned and it went nowhere.

It would not shock me if KABC-TV or any Disney owned TV stations had their license questioned during the Trump administration after Kimmel came forward with allegations of the Trump administration calling for the investigation of late night hosts.
