Tucson Christian Radio to Acquire KGMS-AM/Tucson

https://news.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/headline_id=n35693

Here's details of the deal at play.

. Tucson Christian Radio has inks an application with the FCC to acquire 1kW Religious KGMS-AM (940)/Tucson, AZ, from Good News Communications Inc. Terms were not disclosed. Good News Communications is an Arizona-based company headed by Doug and Mary Martin. Tucson Christian Radio Inc. is a North Carolina-based company headed by Robert Wilkins. Kalil & Co. brokered the deal for this transaction.

This from a service called All Access:

GOOD NEWS RADIO BROADCASTING, INC. is selling Contemporary Christian KLTU (K-LOVE)/MAMMOTH-TUCSON, AZ to EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION for $3 million under a $100,000 option agreement agreed upon in FEBRUARY. GOOD NEWS is also selling News-Talk KVOI-A (THE VOICE)/CORTARO-TUCSON to BUSTOS MEDIA HOLDINGS, LLC for $500,000.

In another TUCSON deal, the price by which GOOD MUSIC, INC. is selling Religion KGMS-A/TUCSON to TUCSON CHRISTIAN RADIO, INC. is $350,000. The price was not disclosed when the deal was initially announced.

It would appear that Good News is getting out of the Good News business and that could be good news except that the buyers look like they will do more of the same junk. So far Doug Martin seems to be keeping his 1950s non-rock station on 690 and also keeping the Sierra Vista station on 1470. Some time ago he sold the Douglas AM on 930 and it is now programming Mexican music. It is hard to imagine a non-commercial FM in Mammoth being worth $3 million.
