Tulane Sports Move To 104.1 The Spot New Orleans

https://radioinsight.com/headlines/196549/tulane-sports-move-to-104-1-the-spot-new-orleans/

Tulane University Athletics and Tulane Sports Properties announced today the expansion of Green Wave radio network coverage, as the department will move its flagship station to iHeartMedia’s KVDU 104.1 FM The Spot. In an effort to further expand listenership, Tulane also will showcase its football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball coaches’ shows on the department’s official podcast – The Current throughout the 2020-21 academic year.

104.1 The Spot will serve as the exclusive home to Green Wave football and men’s basketball games, expanding its coverage throughout Southern Louisiana. Coverage of Green Wave women’s basketball and baseball games will remain on WRBH 88.3 FM. Tulane Sports Properties is the locally based team for Learfield IMG College, the Green Wave’s multimedia rightsholder.

Tulane Sports is heading to Iheart owned 104.1 FM New Orleans.

104.1 The Spot suffered antenna damage last week due to a tower crew climbing the tower to do repair on the top strobe at 2000ft. 92.3 is into the back up antenna at 1000ft but 104.1 cannot lower power to safely operate into that backup, which has less gain as the top main antenna. The Spot is operating off its back up xmtr in downtown New Orleans. Cumulus, who manages the coowned site in Vacherie is getting a repair crew to climb and investigate the damage and hopefully repair asap. Weather has prevented that happening but now with drier/cooler weather it's hoped they can be up there soon.

Thanks for the update, CW. I was missing my HD and coverage to the west. The classic country on HD2 is also good. Can you confirm if KVDU runs HD at 10%? I get a solid lock all the way to Opelousas and well into the MS Gulf Coast.

Yep, it's at 10%... Tower crew found several burnt sections of rigid line today...new replacement on order but it will be another week or so. I'm worried that's not the end of it...if the line burned at the bottom, something else is wrong up top...time will tell
