TUNE IN THURSDAY AT 6AM TO HEAR THE NEW 106.3 WGVC!

Well, it's started...that countdown clock with sayings thrown in here and there. Please don't squeeze the Charmin!

This has been long overdue!

I doubt it with WROQ and Planet. In Greensboro and Seattle, they dropped hints in the countdowns with musical lyrics or titles....some I've heard on 'GVC:

Come on baby light my fire
Elvis isn't really dead, he just went away
Who cares what happened to Barbara Streisand?
Stop in the name of love before you break my heart
Lay lady lay across my big brass bed
I wish they all could be California girls

Sounds like Oldies or Classic Hits to me..

AAA? Classic Hits? You're both wrong. It's female-oriented talk from Greenstone Media.

"Female talk" sounds more like a smokescreen to me. I don't see Entercom doing a sub-niche format when their stations in other markets that they are flipping are all doing various mass-appeal formats.

If they were going to do talk, then moving WORD (AM) to FM would make the most sense.

FYI. About a month ago, Entercom folks were calling around asking questions about several other formats under the guise of doing research for sales clients.

Does Greenstone actually HAVE an affiliate?

I agree DudeFan. Greenville is the last place I would expect a female-oriented talk station with a liberal lean...I'm still placing my money on 60s-80s classic hits but nothing would surprise me.

Yeah, it is kind of hard to believe Entercom would do something as stupid as install Greenstone Media's female talk format on a station in a conservative town like Greenville. It's just dumb enough to be true!

Yeah, from the stunting... my guess would also be Classic Hits. Female-Talk would be ratings nightmare. Let's hope Entercom has better sense than do something like that...

106.3 WGVC - interesting. I guess that rules out a WORD simulcast. They seem to be also quoting classic commercials - "please don't squeeze the Charmin", "you got chocolate on my peanut butter, you got peanut butter on my chocolate." When Entercom usually does this automated voice thing they give hints on the new format, it sounds good to me so far if they are.

Sounds like this new format may take a bite out of struggling 98.9 & Rock 101?

Brilliant, Entercom. ::)

Just heard something interesting on 106..."if you like Elton John, stand by." A possible hint?? Right after that it said "Summer Breeze"

They are not giving you hints. They are trying to throw you off. In some places, Entercom employees are posting notes trying to make people think it's going to be "Movin'". I tell you, it's female-oriented talk. Let's reconvene tomorrow so you can all bow down to me and acknowledge how right I was.

What about Urban AC? Cox has owned that demographic for so long and even if it took a few shares, it would only help the cluster's shares without taking shares away from the non-ethnic focused stations.

Or Chick, we'll tell you that you're the one that's been had by a disinformation campaign.

I have yet to see Entercom take a non-marginal signal and go completely way out there with it. There is no market in the country where female oriented talk does well. KFMP in Minneapolis has been struggling for years.

In the other thread, someone suggested that the station would be called "106.3 the Voice"... I looked up the directory information for http://1063thevoice.com and it was registered to Entercom on October 23rd.

Things aren't looking good....

Yeah, I agree - but if they're going around and talking about MOViN being on there and all, that could be a smokescreen too, who knows. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

If I've been the subject of a disinformation campaign, I will eat crow. But I won't be bringing a fork because I doubt it!

What do you call what they did with The Walk if not go "way out there with it"? Where did a religious/country hybrid station do well before Entercom decided to try it. This is perfectly consistent for Entercom.

Different market manager at the time.

If anyone's going to be running FemmeTalk, it's going to be on an AM signal.
