TUNE IN THURSDAY AT 6AM TO HEAR THE NEW 106.3 WGVC!

Or not take it to the bank, as the case may be if it actually happens. If it's female talk, Country/CC crossover will seem BRILLIANT by comparison.

I agree DudeFan! If it was something like 107.9 WLNK, I would like the idea a little more, but a liberal, female-oriented talk format on FM sounds like a disaster especially in a conservative area like Greenville...they should have just kept Oldies 106 and worked with it.

But surely nobody with an IQ over fourty would want to create a new station like 107.9 WLNK. That station has the most worst ratings of any station actually licensed to Charlotte. A monster signal like that SHOULD do better than an average of a 3-share. Just imagine how much more a female talk station would tank in a smaller market like GSP. At least a 3-share in a market as big as Charlotte is "something".

Then again...I stopped trying to predict the actions of radio executives a LONG time ago.

Yeah...I've not listened to WLNK much, but it's got some half-decent shows on it at least, such as Bob and Sheri, Matt and Ramona, etc...it isn't what I consider 'female talk' even though that's the target probably. And it also mixes some Hot AC songs in during the week and I think the weekends are mostly music.

From what I'm told, the only thing WGVC will have in common with Link is that it will target Women with talk. No Bob and Sherri or Matt & Ramona. Again, it's built upon Greenstone's lineup www.greenstoneradio.com.

Radio Ritas.. Women Aloud... check out this description of the "Women Aloud" Show from the Greenstone website:

Two women - perhaps not that loud, oh who are we kidding? They’re loud – but that’s because they have a lot to say. From the smog and movie back lots of Studio City, Mo Gaffney and Shana Wride are taking on the world one afternoon listener at a time.

So, having failed with ONE loud woman who talks about Hollywood (Bo Griffiin) Entercom has decided to air TWO of them!

This is so crazy that if I didn't know better, I'd think people are right and that I've been sucked into some crazy disinformation campaign.

Candy & Potter aren't exactly setting the town on fire, either; nor is Cooper Lawrence - a good porn star name if you ask me... As for weekends, they actually brought back former middayer Pam Stone to do a Saturday show - ironically, she does her show via ISDN from her property not too far from the WGVC listening area.

Yeah, the Pam Stone show is the only program I listen to on a regular basis on the Link. She's got a pretty good show, and she's actually funny. I haven't been too impressed with the other shows on that station though.

Haha I better keep my thoughts to myself about the Pam Stone show. As my momma said, if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all! :)

So it's Thursday...and it's after 6am...what's happening??

Some people have been told they are still working on contract details! ??? I'd love to be negotiating on the other side of the table with that countdown clock going! Maybe that's a cover story. Maybe they are getting cold feet about the format.

It makes me really wonder what their format is going to be. I still wish that they had not messed with the oldies format because it was a well done format and station at the time that Barnstable sold out to Entercom. I would hate to see a chick talk format and really would hope that it really turns out to be a classic hits format. I think that would be a better fit for the market and lets' face it what they had done with the Bo Show on 98.9 was a boring joke.

They've changed the countdown on the website now to Friday at 6am - and they've taken down http://1063wgvc.com.

Boy those folks don't miss a trick do they.. and only 12 hours late. ;D

1063WGVC.com works for me. They need to change their liner things...they still say The Temptations are back on Thursday! I hope it turns out to be Classic hits as well..
