CNN stands for Cable News Network. Seems like it fits more than Fox News or Microsoft NBC.Looks like CNN will be next to be renamed.

This is most likely what will happen. Turner Sports will be renamed Warner Sports. They have already shifted the company name over from Turner Broadcasting to Warner Media.i think this channel is dumping the Turner name as part of WarnerMedia/Discovery Networks merger and once Discovery fully takes over those networks after the merger is complete (as soon as AT&T finishes it's spin off of this company), as i can see the Turner Networks be phased out with all Turner networks move to the Discovery umbrella of the new company with TNT & TBS retaining their name since they are already established without mentioning it by the Turner name, and the sports coverage could be rebranded to Warner Sports with any sporting event that aired on the Discovery Network (like the 24 Hours of Le Mans be move away from Motor Trend for it to air on TNT, TBS and TruTV since they are established as the Turner Sports channels) to air on TNT, TBS and TruTV as the Warner Sports branded channels along with other Discovery or WarnerMedia networks not under the HBO umbrella airing sports on those networks.
Which I always thought was strange. MSNBC was originally a partnership between MicroSoft and NBC. So the name (kinda) made sense. When Microsoft dropped out of the partnership, the name stuck for whatever reason, although the MS part of the name no longer meant anything. I would have renamed it NBC News Channel or NBC NewsTalk or The NBC News and Talk Channel or something equally catchy and meaningful. NBC since has launched a streaming News Channel called NBC News Now which also would have been a good name.Msnbc was rumored to be renamed but it didn't.

By the way, has anybody noticed that the logos for CNN and MTV (yes, I know MTV dropped the "Music Television" part) have remained virtually unchanged throughout their entire lifetimes? Any other channels that can claim that?
ESPN is the same but they removed the niche sports and made way for NBA, NFL and MLB pundits.Which I always thought was strange. MSNBC was originally a partnership between MicroSoft and NBC. True! And ABC has kept that round logo with the abc font for a long time, although I don't believe that was the launch logo. I won't count CW or MyNetworkTV since they haven't been around so long.CBS never changed the eye.
ESPN stood for "Entertainment and Sports Programming Network" - although Entertainment has a very wide scope that I don't believe ESPN ever really fulfilled ;-)ESPN is the same but they removed the niche sports and made way for NBA, NFL and MLB pundits.
Yeah, I guess the name is still entrenched in public consciousness, or focus groups still approve. But I’ll bet the general public doesn’t know that Microsoft hasn’t had anything to do with the channel for a long while now.Msnbc was rumored to be renamed but it didn't.
HLN is the kind of network thats rife to be in rumors of being shut down in the era of streaming or get rebranded after the George Zimmerman verdicts. Originally HLN was CNN2 and Headline News this network was the TV edition of "All News Radio" or basically if CBSN existed in the 1990's then once Nancy Grace came to HLN it became like CourtTV (Note CourtTV is now a EW Scripps Production) . The Warmer Media edition of CourtTV became TruTV. Ever since 2005-2008 HLN was compared to being a hybrid between TMZ and ID Network (Discovery owned Crime Network). I could see HLN being eliminated as a cable channel and have its content move to either CNN+, HBO Max or Discovery+ depending on how Warner Media wants to go about it once the Discovery deal is final.Which I always thought was strange.
