TV commercials for radio stations

I recently saw a tv ad for WXPN-FM (non-commercial music station) and I realized it’s been a while since I’ve seen any tv ads for any radio station. I know these can be expensive but I used to see radio station tv commercials often. Are others seeing any tv commercials for radio stations?

Yes. In Atlanta I’ve seen ads for a few of Cox’s radio stations on WSB-TV.

Also in Fort Myers, FL, I’ve seen WINK 96.9 commercials on WINK-TV.

There have been a number of commercials for radio stations in Charlotte.

Many were about Christmas music, but I've also seen commercials for hip-hop/urban Power 98, urban AC V-101.9, at least one of the country FMs and of course news/talk WBT, which moved from AM to FM.

Some of these are tradeouts, one station providing some of its commercial time in exchange for spot time on the other. So hypothetically, an FM station might trade 10 :30's of its unsold off-peak time (for example, late evening or overnight hours) in exchange for 3 :30's of a local TV station's unsold off-peak time.

I don't see as many TV commercials for radio stations like I seen in the past. Yes like in the era when ABC or CBS owning radio stations that's when I saw more of that like when Radio Disney, KGO, KCBS All News used to be promoted on their then sister TV stations. Since Cumulus got the former ABC Radio affiliates (except for WABC(AM) went to Red Apple) and Audacy took over the former CBS Radio affiliates those stations its not as common to see those. I see more TV promos about TV apps today given that the local networks affiliates in my area is co-owned with the major TV apps like KGO-TV airs more promos for Disney+ and Hulu, KPIX-TV airs more promos Paramount+ apps and KNTV promos from the Peacock app and Xfinity all for the obvious reasons.

The only place that I would see TV promos for radio is on PBS affiliates mainly because that local PBS station owns that areas NPR affiliate like KQED-TV would mention KQED-FM during underwriting portions or pledge programming.

I have not seen a radio station promote itself on TV for years. It's probably because the TV audience is dwindling year after year, and most of their audience is watching television shows on streaming services. In fact, I've heard DJs on both secular and Christian stations talk about TV shows that are on streaming. (like The Chosen)

I recall there being a service that provided a lot of TV commercials "in a box" for radio stations. It had short clips of music videos/pop culture and they were updated every few months with the latest music. Just add your logo and voice guy. They were provided anywhere from :05-:30 and market exclusive.

Draper Media uses their TV stations to promote the radio stations. You see the commercials every hour.
