PHILADELPHIA - July 7, 2010 (WPVI) -- A 16-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man are missing after a "Ride the Ducks" boat was hit by a barge and sank Wednesday afternoon in the Delaware River. More than 30 people had to be rescued. The accident happened off Market Street and Columbus Boulevard around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Philadelphia police say the boat had just entered the water south of the Ben Frankin Bridge when there was a fire on board. It then encountered what police call "mechanical difficulties."

That's when the boat was hit by a barge going northbound on the river.

The boat sank and has not yet been located.

Witnesses say the boat was not moving, and appeared to be stuck or disabled before the crash.

The Coast Guard says 37 people were on the boat, including two crew members. Of those people 35 had to be rescued.
Channels 3, 6, 10 and 29 have been on the air all afternoon long covering this story. Thoughts on the TV coverage of this. More info: www.cbs3.com , www.6abc.com, www.nbcphiladelphia.com , www.myfoxphilly.com .

Thoughts? They covered it. It's what they do. What was there to say? What was known was known, the rest was filling time as new nuggets came out.

Julius, why do you feel the need to create a discussion where none is really needed? It was a tragic accident, it got some national attention. You had to live under a rock to not know it happened. No station in town covered it better or worse than the other. End of story.
