Former President Donald Trump shot today at a rally in Butler PA. He was hit in the earlobe area. All news networks (MSNBC/CNN/FOX News) and all major networks (CBS/ABC/NBC) covering it, Fox TV not covering it as they have Saturday baseball. Telemundo and Univision in full coverage. Fox News was covering the rally and the shots were fired live on their network feed.
Recording KDKA-1020 (30 mi away in Pittsburgh) with lots of phone calls from rallygoers and eyewitnesses. They are reiterating the fact that they are a trusted source and reliable - don't trust everything you see on Facebook, X, etc... EXCELLENT REPORTING.

AP reports shooter is deceased. Bullet apparently only grazed the right earlobe of President Trump.
 
A rallygoer is dead too. Unconfirmed possibly 2 rallygoers. CBS said something about brain matter being found in that spot behind Trump in the bottom rows of rallygoers.

So far I see no confirmation that he was hit. The blood near the ear could have been caused by secret service dropping him to the ground.

That may change once we get a more detailed reports from secret service & police.

Looking at the video, he grabbed his right ear before the secret service got to him.

Live updates: Shooting at Trump rally is being investigated as assassination attempt, AP sources say

Donald Trump was whisked off the stage at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania after apparent gunshots rang through the crowd. A shooter is dead and a rally attendee was killed, the Butler County District attorney tells AP.

The former president has posted that he was hit by a bullet on his right ear. Other reporters are saying he could also have been hit by broken glass.

A Pennsylvania police source said they believe Trump was not struck by a bullet, but hit by glass fragments. These may have come from a teleprompter that was hit.

ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, Univision and Telemundo have cancelled their programming and are not playing any commercials. It's all Trump coverage.

Lester Holt has come in for NBC, Margaret Brennen for CBS, Anderson Cooper is anchoring for CNN. MSNBC is taking the NBC-Lester Holt feed.

Fox had a baseball game tonight. Here in NYC, it's been moved to WWOR-TV Channel 9, also owned by Fox. Univision had a soccer game. It's been moved to UniMás, its co-owned network.
 
I switched between ABC and NBC feeds for about an hour, thought NBC did a better job anchoring, but especially NBC had better, more coherent and cogent eyewitnesses. ABC's reporter put a few close-up spectators on air who seemed to have had an overdose of adrenaline, too much off-point babbling. NBC had former Secret Service person on a phoner, she had solid info. (CBS unavailable to me OTA, so can't add them to my comparison. Fox was doing live baseball as mentioned above, and the Spanish networks were live too but my Spanish is limited so it wouldn't be fair to critique them.)

Some Fox affiliates around the country have pre-empted the baseball game with coverage from Fox News Channel.
 
Not my local KCYU. They are still airing Giants baseball via the main network feed. The 'some Fox affiliates' might be the O&Os.

ABC, KDKA and others confirm an AR-15 rifle was used to shoot the rallygoer(s) and Trump.

Two dead, two injured after gunfire abruptly ends Trump rally in Butler County

That's the shooter and one of the spectators. There are still two in critical condition.

I've actually been close by when politicians were shot at. That podium is way to high above ground and even too far from any containers that might have shattered on the podium. In any case, items shattered by gunfire will have their fragments move in the direction of the bullet. There was nothing in front of the podium that could shatter, as even a teleprompter is made with something like Plexiglass and does not shatter.

By the same token, if the bullet grazed his ear, then where did it end up? There were people seated behind him. Did any of them get hit?

There will be video that will trace the path of any bullets and we will ultimately see the path as well as slow motion of any fragments. We really can't make assumptions until they study that video.
