Was this hosted by Don Imus from Imus In The Morning?

...indeed it was. And Charles McCord, Imus' radio newsman, was the announcer and wrote satirical material for the show. It was essentially Imus trying his hand at a Tom Snyder-type of chat show. WNBC had canned Imus from his morning radio gig (proof that WNBC's then-PD Bob Pittman didn't know his @$$ from a hole in the ground) and Imus went to WHK in Cleveland (he'd come to WNBC from Cleveland's WGAR in 1971). This show was a way of keeping Imus' image alive in New York until he could get a new radio gig there. "Imus Plus" was taped weekends at WNEW-TV and distributed by Metromedia nationally; I believe most stations that carried this show also carried Merv Griffin's Metromedia show on weekdays. The TV show evaporated by the end of the year, and Imus was back on WNBC in September 1979. Upon his return to New York, Imus was booked onto "Tomorrow," and he and Snyder joked about how wretched "Imus Plus" turned out to be...
