TV Production Flees California (for the rest of U.S. & Canada)

back in the early 90's there was such a rush of Hollywood productions coming here to Pittsburgh that
we started to become known as Hollywood on the Monongahela. A combination of a lot of diverse
scenic locations (many of which mimic New York quite nicely) plus it being much cheaper here seemed
to spur them. They left around the turn of the milennium when the low Canadian Dollar seemed to make
Vancouver and Toronto much more attractive options, but now they appear to be coming back.

I've mentioned this before on other threads, but Vancouver stands in for Seattle all the time. Most viewers don't notice the difference, but those who know Seattle are driven crazy because the two cities really don't look much a like at all. Yes, they both have mountains, water, and evergreen trees, but that is where the similarities end. This has been going on since the 1980's and it drives me nuts!

The same thing pretty much is happening with the production of ADULT films as well. A few years back a jock at my then radio station interviewed Ron Jeremy. Off the air I remember Ron telling us that both Denver and Dallas are quickly taking the place of California as THE place to film "dirty" movies. Though Jeremy didn't go into details as to why that is ( I am sure its money ) nor as to why those two cities are suddenly "attractive" for the filming of such things. Then again in the case with Denver, it really is no secret that in recent years that city had become a lot more liberal so I suppose that could be a reason. Come to think of it I believe the LOGO channel recently did a show about just that...the "Liberal" Denver. But Dallas?
