TV Shows You Hated In First Run, But Like In Reruns

I found two shows now in reruns, that I really like, but when they were on first run I couldn't stand to watch them

One was 3rd Rock From The Sun and the other was South Park .

Both are actually well written and clever. I know I didn't like South Park because I can't stand bathroom humour but if you over look that it's very well written and funny. Makes you wonder if the writers are that clever why they need the bathroom jokes. 3rd Rock... is also quite funny and well written, I don't know why I couldn't stand it.

So what TV shows did you find unwatchable in first run but like when they came into reruns (and yes I know South Park is still in first run but you know what I mean)
 
Every Body Loves Raymond and Charmed

I saw a couple of episodes of each when they were on first run and could not stand them.

NOW, I love both in reruns and can not get enough. Charmed actually has very good story lines, not to mention the hot babes. The Barone Family.......what a hilarious bunch they are.

Weird....maybe I did not give them a chance or they just grew on me.
 
WKRP in Cincinnati. I was fortunate enough to catch reruns with the original music. It's been a long time since I've seen the show, so I probably wouldn't like the newer reruns with generic music.

Star Trek: The Next Generation. The first few episodes I saw in first run were really cheesy. Once in reruns, I realized there was a lot more to the series.
 
George Lopez -- I thought that it was a corny show at first, but now that I'm seeing it in reruns I love the way that George's mother and father-in-law puts him down and George and his brother are pretty funny.
 
I never got into "The King of Queens" during its 1998-2007 run on CBS, partially because I wrote the show off as a formulaic dumb-husband sitcom. But I've been watching the long-running series in reruns on my local CW affiliate and can't get enough of the show. It's become appointment viewing for me! While the show doesn't break the mold, the writing and acting are solid and the characters are well defined. Best of all, it's just a hilarious show!
 
For me it's "Seinfeld"..saw episodes in the 1st season, and just found Jerry annoying (I still think he's a very over-rated stand up comic)..when I finally discovered in the later episodes that these people were'nt there for you to like, basically jerks, who ended up getting theirs, (the last episode basically clubbed America over the head with the message)..I was able to enjoy the re-runs..
 
None. First impressions are everything and I can't remember ever watching any program in reruns or syndication I didn't like initially....although.....several come to mind that I never watched at first.

Home Improvement comes to mind as one of my all-time favorites, especially the early years.

McHale's Navy (I was in Japan when it aired originally and never saw the first years. Was in the service with a guy who looked and acted exactly like Joe Flynn which may have been the reason.)
 
I didn't hate it, but I paid no attention to Raymond until it was on syndication. That's a funny show.
 
Can't say I hated it, but a show I really did not care for during it's network run
(but came to love in syndication) was Cheers. Also was not a big fan of Becker
on the network, but am finding it more and more enjoyable as the reruns roll on.
(maybe Ted Danson is just an acquired taste?)

I really didn't get to watch Raymond or King of Queens regularly until they were in reruns because of being in night classes in college during most of their network runs.

Then there were shows that I didn't get to see much as a kid because my parents didn't like them but I discovered and liked later, like The Twilight Zone, Star Trek, Get Smart, and Hogan's Heroes. My dad was a WW II vet and hated Hogan's Heroes.
 
As I child I was not really a huge fan of "The Untouchables" (my parents loved it since they related to it as they were teenagers in the 1930s when they met and dated.) Desilu seemingly wanted to shy away from the sitcom genre in favor of venturing into prime time drama at that time.

Though Robert Stack was brilliant as Elliott Ness, the rapid fire narration by Walter Winchell,though colorful for its 1930s Chicago setting I found annoying at that time. Winchell for many years was hated for his tabloidized sensationalism in his news commentaries and bashed countless celebrities and their personal lives throughout his carreer.

Sound familiar?

Is it any wonder only one person showed up at his funeral.

The reruns (whenever I catch them) I find are now excessively campy,nevertheless funny though it was considered serious stuff back when the show was in production.
 
I can remember hating the Art Fleming version of Jeopardy as a kid/teen (probably because of being too young to know a lot of the answers) but liking the Alex Trebek version when it came out. Now in seeing clips of the Fleming version it seemed more dull then the Trebek version, but I would have probably liked it if I had been older in the 60's and 70's.
 
I never liked Hogan's Heroes as a kid & thought it was boring but liked it later, same with Star Trek, the original series. Reminded me of a boring Sunday evening, same with Wild Kingdom. :D
A friend turned me on to Seinfeld- I never got into that at first either.
Most shows from around 1986 'til 93ish I never even saw because I didn't watch much t.v, so The Wonder Years & Doogie Howser M.D are a couple that come to mind.
I thought All in the Family, Barnaby Jones & Ironside were boring as a kid & always thought Columbo was scary because of the intro with his flashlight coming at the camera...but enjoyed all later on.
I didn't like Benny Hill having to be emberrassed watching it with my dad in the room as a kid but was delighted to watch the reruns around the security of high school friends ;D. Same with Monty Python's Flying Circus.
 
I really didn't think much of "Happy Days" when it was on originally, but grew to love it in syndication (and also, oddly enough, during its last season on the air).

The same can be said for "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air", although I really wasn't prepared for the ending of the episode entitled "Papa's got a brand new Excuse"...
 
I never liked M*A*S*H until I saw it in reruns.
Then again I was about 12 when it went off-network. Probably not the M*A*S*H target audience.

There are way more shows that I liked the first go-round, but don't like as much in reruns.
Usually that's because I'm not in the target audience now, but I was when I watched more network tv, and they pandered to me better. :D
