TV Story; Owner of KPET Dies Station Goes dark

If the heirs have no interest in running the station, it should be put up for sale, at least giving the remaining employee(s) the opportunity to stay on the air. Otherwise, go through a broker.

Radio stations don't sell in days. Most sales take months or a couple of years. If you have no interest in running or don't know how to run a station, the employees are looking at a long wait for a paycheck which will likely be far less than the hours worked because a small town AM won't sell for much if the main guy hasn't run the place and sold the clients. The station was basically the owner and a news guy was the station.

Reading the story, it would seem the family is trying to deal with the death of their loved one *and* what to do with the radio station.

Unless there's a will, trust, or some other documentation on what to do...kinda seems like there's going to be an attorney involved shortly.

RIP David Stewart.

Many years ago, I worked for an automation company that had a system for visually impaired operators. I remember talking to the previous owner Don Sitton a few times. Hope the Stewart family can keep it on the air.
