Two new Recuardo converts: KLOL San Francisco and KQLV San Diego

Yes folks, both stations drop their spanish Pop presentations in favor of the very successful Recuardo format, which originated right here in LA on 103.9/98.3. I wish David Eduardo the best of luck.
______________

Put on a format on one of your Dallas signals that you earlier stated on this board you didn't feel would work in Dallas.

You also stated that about Cumbias, but then dropped your Tejano FM in favor of.... yes, Cumbias.
______________

I do not recall saying that a properly executed adult hits format would not work in Dallas. The current execution of KEGL will not work, though, which is why KLNO is going to do it right.

Since I invented the format based on extensive listener consultation, I have never dowubted its impact anywhere in the Southwest. Which is why we have recuerdo outlets already in Dallas, Houston, McAllen, Phoenix, San Diego, Fresno, LA, San Jose. Did you know that in LA, tthe Recuerdo in the recuerdo 70 dbu, i tis the #1 Spanish station in the market?

And the cumbia format lasted for about a year, didn´t it. All we did was mitigate the impact of Gato, which is also gone now; the winner with the two cumbia stations fragging each other was KESS, which is what we wanted.

Guess what... the LA cumbia format is leaving us this week, too. That will leave none on FM in the US. They are dying in Mexico, too.

Of course, Tejano was dead before that.

Step two has Recuerdo moving from 107.1 to 94.1 and a new hard core norteña format is now on 107.1. Stay tuned.

I thought KLYY was still dabbling in the format - but with some minor tweaks...

I would not call this a tweek... this is a format change.

All the hard core cumbia, called sonidero, has been nuked. Only rhythmic grupero is left, combined, 50%, with grupero ballads. In other words, about 70% of the mix has changed.

PD gone, morning show gone. Probably more changes coming.

That's disappointing. I understand why the music has to change, but speaking selfishly, I'll miss it.

I discovered cumbia listening to this station and have been enchanted by its rhythms. I have embarassingly little knowledge of Espanol, but I've usually listened to "Oye" 97.5 when driving around town.
