Tyra Banks and Chrissy Teigen's 'FABLife' a ratings disaster

Tyra Banks and Chrissy Teigen’s new show, “FABLife,” has turned to the drab life for the supermodels thanks to sinking ratings since its debut, TV insiders tell Page Six.

Banks’ other show, the long-running “America’s Next Top Model,” is ending its run Dec. 4 after 12 years on the air. And sources tell Page Six her Disney/ABC show “FABLife” won’t make it to a second season unless things get more fabulous quickly. By comparison, daytime shows from Bethenny Frankel and Anderson Cooper were put out of their misery due to low ratings though they had bigger average numbers than “FABLife.”

“The new ratings are beyond catastrophic,” said one insider after “FABLife” debuted in September as the No. 1 new syndicated talk show with a 1.0 rating, but sank in subsequent weeks to a 0.7. It’s now being beaten by a much less glamorous daytime competitor, “Crime Watch Daily.”

But sources close to the show counter that it’s doing well with women and has “the youngest demo among syndicated shows besides ‘The Real’ and ‘The Wendy Williams Show,’” and is performing well in markets like New York and Chicago.

Have any stations downgraded The FABLife to overnights, or dropped the show altogether?

I hope Fab Life gets cancelled. WCTX/59 in New Haven, CT then can move The Real to 9AM, Wendy Williams back to 10AM, and bring back Millionaire at 4PM. A few weeks ago they moved Wendy to 4PM. It's so stupid to air a show done live at 10AM at 4PM. Also they dropped Millionaire before the new season began and no other station in the market picked it up.

FABLife isn't cleared in Traverse City-Cadillac. It seems like many short-lived syndicated shows were not cleared here as well

There is a similar situation here. WNEP-TV, the ABC station in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area, never carries Fab Life, but in its place where the show airs in its 3pm timeslot is Crime Watch Daily which I am guessing is not doing pretty well also. Last year, WYOU-TV, our CBS station co-owned with WBRE aired Hot Bench, but the show was dropped by the station before their second season started and it was nowhere to be seen in my area since then. WYOU, by the way, airs Judge Judy three to four times a week.

So, I think WNEP has no room to clear Fab Life, because it is crowded with popular daytime programs in their schedule like Kelly and Michael, Ellen, Millionaire, and Crime Watch Daily, as well as 2 1/2 hours worth of news starting at 4pm. If WNEP2, sacrifices one hour of Antenna TV programming in favor of the 4pm news, they can easily clear Fab Life.

This could hasten the show's demise:

Tyra Banks to Exit ‘FABLife’ After Two Months

Tyra Banks is exiting the syndicated daytime talk show “FABLife” after two months, TheWrap has learned.

The host, who debuted on the Disney|ABC-produced show in September, will leave the show to focus on her cosmetics company, TYRA Beauty. She will continue to serve as executive producer through December.

If they didn't buy it they can't clear it. It's not a network show.

But that aside, take Page Six articles, and those quoting "insiders" with those silly quotes ripped out of the National Enquirer, and household ratings--which mean next to nothing--with a shaker of salt.

In Chicago, due to ABC signing all 8 of their stations to carry Fablife, WLS-TV was forced to move Rachael Ray to 1:40am, in order to make room for Fablife. WLS-TV's station manager worked aggressively to pull away Live with Kelly & Michael & Rachael Ray from WGN-TV, just because the station manager wants to carry almost every program that other ABC O&O stations are carrying. ABC's signing all 8 of their stations to carry Katie in the 3pm timeslot on all stations, again forced WLS-TV to move 2 successful shows out of their timeslots. in 2012, it forced WLS-TV to move Inside Edition & Jeopardy to be moved from 3 & 3:30pm to 2 & 2:30pm, so Katie could be on at 3pm. Ratings dropped a bit for both syndicated shows, & the local news suffered a bit, because Katie wasn't bringing in enough viewers to lead into the 4pm newscast. My mom hopes that next season, Rachael Ray will be moved back to the afternoon hours, though she wished it had remained on WGN-TV at 10am, where it seemed to do well. If I'm not mistaken, I think on a local level, Rachael Ray did better against The View than against Maury.

As for some past syndicated shows that stations carried, Any talk show that debuted in 1995. WLS-TV carried Carnie Wilson in the 11pm timeslot for not even one season. Her show was cancelled midseason. Most people thought she was too much like Ricki Lake. WCIU's first year as an English language station (first 30 years were foreign language brokered programming, along with being part-time Spanish language affiliates Netspan who later to renamed themselves Telemundo & SIN [Spanish International Network] who renamed themselves Univision), they carried the Shirley Show from Canada. The overall worst episode I saw was where she had to do a show on the position of the toilet seat. Really? Do we need to be talking about that? Any station that carries Jerry Springer past or present (WMAQ-TV dropped his show after being hired by the station to be a commentator, did a commentary that offended Ron Magers & Carol Marin so bad, that those news anchors quit the station. WMAQ-TV nearly got sued for breach of contract , but WFLD (Fox) picked up the show the next day). WCIU currently carries Jerry Springer, along with Steve Wilkos (both trash shows).

Jenny Jones was also horrible. Her show first started out on WMAQ-TV, but when her show went trash, it moved to WGN-TV. Her refusal to disclose to potential people that she was doing a same sex crush show hurt her so bad, that her show got cancelled a few years later, due to drop in ratings. That unaired episode (unaired full episode, but excerpts have been leaked) hurt her reputation when a guy was shot to death after the taping.

Rachael Ray had to be moved to an independent in Seattle (KONG-16 at 5PM weekdays) due to that frickin FABLife on KIRO-7. They had aired Rachael Ray for many years but replaced it with Meredith Vieira in 2014 and now FABLife in September 2015.
In Yakima, it's on KAPP-35 (ABC) at 3PM weekdays. At least it's on a big-3 station.
I don't like the show that much either. A bunch of halfwits talking about gossip and devoting themselves to the 18-34 audience.

It's official: No sophomore season.

‘FABLife’ Talk Show Canceled, Won’t Return For Season 2

Freshman lifestyle daytime panel talk show FABLife will be ending its run as Disney/ABC has opted not to bring it back for a second season. Original episodes will continue to be produced and aired for the remainder of the season.

FABLife, originally built around Tyra Banks as a lead host, got to a slow ratings start. It has been drawing a 0.7-0.8 household rating and 0.3 in women 18-49. In November Banks announced that she was phasing out her role on the show.

Launching successful new syndicated talk shows has proven hard in the past couple of years, with Warner Bros.’ The Real, recently renewed for two more seasons, as a rare success story amid a slew of casualties.

Good - I really didn't like that talk show. These new shows have really struggled with Kelly & Michael, Ellen and Dr. Phil being the top talk shows to this day. Now KAPP/KVEW in central Washington gets to air ANOTHER show at 4PM next fall. Maybe Harry Connick Jr's new show? There's also "Ice & Coco," a new talk show with Ice-T and Coco Austin that they might be able to grab up for the 4PM slot.
