U of H looking to purchase radio station to supplement KUHF

I've heard that KUHF was hoping to make the change this year, but it won't happen. They need FCC approval for the ownership change.

I know from personal experience that glaciers move faster than internal changes at KUHF.
That's not KUHF's fault. It's just the way the bureaucracy works in public radio, especially a university owned public radio station.

So the best guess now is that classical music on KUHC 91.7 FM won't be on the air until the middle of next year -- at the earliest. But don't hold your breath.

You don't have to wait. KUHF is putting great local news coverage on the right now. Every day. Check it out. Mornings 5am to 9am, and afternoons 4 to 6:30.

The KTRU purchase will put the classical music on another station, and give the KUHF news department more time for news.
