Uncle Joe, Aunt Bee, and Uncle Charlie (How are they related to...)??

I think Uncle Charlie is Steve's brother in law. Charlie is the brother of Steve's late wife. Is this correct?

I can't figure Aunt Bee out. I know from the story line she raised Andy as a boy, so she is Andy's aunt and Opie's great aunt. Correct?

What about Uncle Joe? I have seen many explinations on the internet. From Kate Bradley's uncle to Kate's brother in law.

Does anyone know for sure? Or did the storylines not define them.

I know Here's Lucy the writers quite often mucked up the bloodlines. Harry was Lucy's brother in law but was blood related to Lucy's kids. This fact was quite often blurred or simply wrong on that show.

Uncle Charley was the brother of Bub (William Frawley's character in the B&W episodes), who was Steve's father-in-law. That makes him the great-uncle of the boys.

That's correct, but they never said which side of the family she's from.

Uncle charlie was Bub's brother. Bub was the kids maternal grandfather. That would make Charlie the kid's great uncle.

Aunt Bee was Andy's aunt. Her last name was Taylor (and never married) so she must have been Andy's father's sister.

Uncle Joe was Kate Bradley's uncle. His last name was Carson. As far as I know they never said what Kate's maiden name was so I don't know what side of the family he came from.

Speaking of the Andy Griffith Show,in the first episode where Aunt Bee joins the family,Andy makes mention of Barney being his cousin but from then on no mention of Barney being Andy's cousin is heard from only that Andy and Barney were high school classmates and also that Barney was Opie's godfather.
