On Sunday around sunset (19:12 CT) in San Antonio, I heard a station that I haven’t been able to identify. It was playing ‘60/‘70s tunes by James Brown, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, and Aretha Franklin.
The only ID I heard was “The Best - Solid Gold Motown Soul.” I didn’t hear any other DJ talk because XEEST kept mixing in and taking over.
It did not match the stream/playlist of oldies KAZG in Scottsdale, AZ, or classic rock KETX in Livingston, TX.
I couldn’t get a working stream of classic hits KRDZ in Wray, CO, at the time, but I called that station Monday and was told that they don’t have a Motown/soul show.
I caught the station again on Wednesday around the same time while at home. It was in/out with songs by Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, Rose Royce, and Billy Ocean, and I heard a “Solid Gold Soul” ID, but XEEST eventually took over. The signal appeared to be coming from northeast of me.
Anyone have an idea what this could be? Maybe a station that recently changed its format?
