update jammin 1075 brings u hood radio sunday july 20 8pm 12am

And this poses the question of: where do I need to be located in order to optimally receive Hood Radio? On the SUMMIT of the Mountain or one of its passes?

I mean, my gut instinct tells me that optimal reception can be obtained on the summit, as VHF FM signals (or really anything above 30 MHz, for that matter) are all line of sight--if the path between you and the transmitter is unobstructed (hills, buildings etc.) you should be able to receive it. But then again, the summit of Mt. Hood, for all intents and purpose, is not easy to access and thus I may be forced to rely on the less optimal reception on one of the passes, or Hiway 26.

(I have tried tuning it from Meadows and Timberline and it has worked reasonably well there. Of course, KKCW blows in sounding like its transmitter is right next to me.......but then again, I have been able to DX that one as far away as Pendleton on a few occasions. Go figure.)

But if anyone decides to actually go out and try to listen to Hood Radio *on* Mt. Hood, remember, gas is almost $5 per gallon now. ;o)
