WHAT IS A YOU TUBE?? (a) MY TV STILL FADES IN AND OUT==I HAVE RABBIT ANTENA AND BOX.(b) I'M IN ROLLING MEADOWS/(c)

(a) On the internet at: youtube.com

(b) Does your rabbit ears have a preamplifier in it? If not, you may need to consider a indoor antenna with a preamplifier. Is your antenna near a window? Reception may improve. Does any of your windows face east or southeast? If so, you may get better reception in those directions. If that does not help, read on:

What kind of a residence do you have? If it's an apartment, condo or townhome you may be limited in your options to install an outdoor antenna due to lease/homeowners association (HOA) restrictions. If you're not allowed to have an outdoor antenna, and you live in a townhome, you may be able to install an antenna in your attic or the attic of your garage. I recently installed a medium sized antenna, a Winegard HD-1080 antenna in Mundelein, IL, and we are getting good reception from 34 miles away with an antenna and a preamplifier installed in the attic. The HOA does not allow outdoor antennas there.

If you have a house, you might need to consider an outdoor antenna with a preamplifier. You are about 25 miles from the loop transmitters, and antennaweb says that you need a medium sized VHF/UHF antenna. Print out the results page and take it to Tri-State Electronics in Mount Prospect - they are excellent in helping people with their antenna installations, I have talked to, and purchased from them. If you can wait, I would suggest shopping online for your TV antenna, cable and preamplifier. A few online companies come to mind: solidsignal.com or www.summitsource.com You can email them questions if the need arises. Shop around for the best deal! Sometimes these companies and others offer free shipping and depending on where they are located, no sales tax. I would run a search on your favorite search engine(s) and use keywords like "TV antennas" "Free Shipping" Try antennaweb.org for antenna recommendations.

(c) You're not that far away, you should be able to get good reception in most areas of Rolling Meadows. If the tall buildings on Algonquin or Golf Rd. are nearby, these buildings may be blocking or attenuating the DTV signals, then you may need a larger antenna, or install it higher up. Please be advised that antennas are generally not returnable, so if you're in doubt before purchasing an antenna call Tri-State electronics and they should be able to advise you. I would stay away from Radio Shack - the quality of their products has slipped over the years and some of the salespeople may not be knowledgeable enough for your reception situation. I would buy Winegard or Channel Master antennas if I were you. They cost more, but they work great out of the box. I have been using Winegard and Channel Master for over 30 years.
