Urban Ac Heats up in Littlle Rock market

Now that Signal Media has KHLR/Heartbeat 106.7,(which was once part of a Clear Channel-connected Aloha Station Trust)what is the next step for Urban AC in Central Arkansas?Citadel's KOKY-FM has been in The Last Bastion Station Trust, LLC, as trustee under the Citadel Divestiture Trust since 2006.Now with the Cumulus acquisition of Citadel, there is speculation that only 14 stations need to go into a divestiture trust. Will this new twist help/or hurt KOKY w/the new dog in the hunt??Stay tuned......

This station 106.7 plays waaaay better music than KOKY. The only saving grace for KOKY is the Baisden Show. Whoever plays the music for KOKY needs to learn to play old-school music and not DEAD SCHOOL music. They play way too many album cuts that a lot of people have never heard. I'm 46 years old and I KOKY plays music older than I can relate to. THATS A PROBLEM. It almost seems that KOKY playlist has gone even older since the competition has arrived. BIG MISTAKE! Who are they going after 60yr olds? My old school is bobby brown, keith sweat, new edition, SWV, GUY, SILK, DREAMBOY, PRINCE, THE TIME, HALL and OATES, THE SYSTEM I NEVER hear those on KOKY. I and I hate Blues so you can best believe I don't listen on Saturdays.

Some polite disagreement, I have always kind of liked KOKY because they sound a bit different than a cookie cutter urban AC due to a longer heritage than most stations most likely.

i agree with you to some extent, It is certainly not cookie cutter which I do appreciate. However, they are not filling the void for ages 30 to 45. It also seems that koky has overlooked the blue eyed soul category. In addition, I can't tell you how many times I have tried to listen for at least a 30min. I can't!! To each their own.

Looking at Heartbeats playlist it reminds you of a Clear Channel station back on the westcoast. KISQ KHHT KHYL same songs but I notice too KOKY doesnt follow most Urban AC playlist

Well KOKY's playlist can be a blessing and a curse. i'm not so sure they are responding to heartbeat the properly. I'm not alone in my complaints. The way new music sucks today, I would expect a UAC station with proper wattage to be the top station in their market. KOKY is a heritage station and do want them to win but right now i don't hear it. I also hear that heartbeat will be broadcasting sports games, if so. They will lose listeners on that alone.

I appreciate the stations that still program regionally with some Southern Soul and Blues.
