URBAN AC STATIONS HAVE BEGUN TO ADD CLASSIC HIP HOP SONGS TO THEIR PLAYLIST

Has anybody else noticed that Urban Adult Contemporary radio stations have been trying to attract a younger crowd now days by adding a few Classic Hip Hop songs mixed in with Classic Soul Music and today's R&B?

I know 2 Urban AC stations here in DETROIT that have added a few Classic hip hop songs to their playlist they are WMXD FM MIX 92.3 http://www.mix923fm.com and WDMK FM 105.9 KISS FM http://www.kissdetroit.com

KRNB here in the DFW has been doing that for quite a while now.

WMJM in Louisville has been adding classic hip hop songs for about two years now. At first, they were playing these artists only on Friday and Saturday nights. Now, artists like Doug E. Fresh, Tupac, Soul Sonic Force and Rob Base can be heard throughout the week.

I did that years ago on my UAC (KJMG), before we sold it. Very positive results from listeners and ratings. They were true classics... The Message, It's Like That, etc...

I always wondered why I was the only one who thought the belonged.

Now,there is also a void for late 90s, early 2000s Hip-Hop. The era of Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, Ja Rule, Master P, Outkast etc. I must say I like Cox's Classic Hip-Hop and R&B stations in Birmingham POWER 102.1. They playlist was huge.

Some needs to call KOKY in Little Rock and let them know they should be doing this as well. Heartbeat has moved in and kicked that azz!
