Now can anybody really make CC look like Snow White? :D What's the scoop with URBAN Radio?
 
Is this another nobody knows nothing thread? Seriously I don't know anything about the Urban Radio group. What kind of shake ups have they done in the past?
 
They should be happy getting the top urban, chr and country stations in the market. I guess timing was everything.

It's good to know which one of us is the obligatory disgruntled former employee. Thank you for coming out of that closet early.

I know they had a meeting with the Meridian staff yesterday and I don't think any major changes are planned for now according to my friend.
 
It's way to early in the game to see if any changes will be made and not on the first meeting for sure. I don't know about disgruntled employee or not but I know that's the norm to be accused, guilty or innocent. :D

A Thursday (March 1) message R&R obtained from Clear Channel to parties interested in the 448 stations it has on the sale block – all bids were due Feb. 23 – reveals that CC’s six stations in Tupelo and five stations in Meridian, Miss., are going to URBan Radio Broadcasting.

In part the message read: "While we will not notify interested parties of each signed deal, we do want to let you know that the first agreement we have signed since commencing our auction process is for the sale of the stations in the Tupelo and Meridian, Mississippi markets to [URBan Radio Broadcasting], a minority controlled and operated company led by Kevin Wagner."

The Tupelo stations include gospel WBVV, urban WESE, talk WKMQ-AM, sports WTUP-AM, top 40/CHR WWKZ, and country WWZD. In Meridian, the stations include news/talk WFFX-AM, country WJDQ, hot AC WMSO, oldies WYHL, and urban WZKS.

URBan’s station roster currently includes 13 stations in Toledo, Ohio; Columbus/Starkville, Miss.; Alexandria, La; and Florence-Muscle Shoals, Ala.

While I don't know about URBan Radio Partners and how they operate, I always cringe when I hear, "No major changes are planned," or "We don't fix things that aren't broken." Everytime I've heard that line, things usually not only get "fixed" but very little is left alone.
 
read my first post and take heed.one of my best friends WAS a market manager for them.Told them to have a nice day...says they are worse than cumulus and CC put together...don't believe all the BS they are dishing out.
 
Yes, as any radio vet will tell you.

When the new owners appear and say, "No changes are planned."

That means, don't leave until we can get all of our ducks in a row.
 
down and out would be the play for the employees...Goldman Sachs bit off on all that project,sure he's hoodwinked investors like pro basketball and football.got some bean counters who can't even turn on a radio, ALWAYS PUSHING for more sales,even if they're are just not there.Hey this is Miss. not New York.and they cut expenses to the bone, even recycle toilet tissue.won't be long before the Q Zoo will be a syndicated and EXTRA HEAVY VT OM NEARLY ALL SHIFTS.
 
Just a quick question ,have any of you ever worked for urban radio or are you just trying to stir up&^%*!! All I have ever read on this site was how bad cc was.Now out of the blue you are saying bad things about a company that I have never heard of! The way you talk you must think that the ex-cc employees have a say in who sells what to who ! Well, they don't,they're employees not owners. Buy the way, who do you work for and I'll start posting bad things about them. Just a few thoughts this morning while I drink my coffee.
 
Read your own posts. You've already thrown up some stinging comments about Miss101, WOKK and female on air personalities. I don't know anything about Urban Radio and I think the former cc employees can make that determination by themselves. This is a board full of radio and like yourself ex radio employees. I daresay that most if not all have been bitten a few times by different employers, therefore you are going to get some negative comments about any employer, cc, cumulus, Urban etc. If you want nice post on the Homemakers of America board. I'm sure they will be glad to have you. ;D
