Very Exciting Past Couple of Weeks on the Billboard Hot 100

Last week Leona Lewis zoomed up to the top spot with "Bleeding Love", and Lil's Wayne's "Lollipop" made a very impressive leap into the Top 10.
This week superstar divas dominate the charts - Mariah moves up, up, and away to capture the top spot with "Touch My Body" while the Material Gir is up from number 68 all the way to 3 with Justin Timberlake's help on "4 Minutes". Just outside the Top 10 Country supersat Trace Adkins races up nearly 30 notches to land at 12 on "You're Gonna Miss This".
Lastly, this week's Hot Shot Deubt is at number 22 - Fallout Boy's remake of "Beat It", originally a smah for the king of Pop - Michael Jackson.

You can also see that some tunes are selling like cupcakes. Flo Rida's "Low" has already sold over 3 million legal copies/downloads while Alicia Keys has over 2 million on "No One".

I can't get enough of that "Low" - one of the best rap songs I've ever heard!

I can't say I pay much attention to the Hot 100 these days with the flawed methodology Billboard uses to determine it (all stations airplay, rather than CHR/Pop as it used to be), and how the record companies suppress downloads to manipulate sales. It's a crime that a record with the massive airplay and callout scores such as "Apologize" couldn't even sneak a week there. But like I said, that speaks for Billboard more than the song...

The above said, it was nice to see Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love" get to #1 there and return after a suppressed download created "#1" knocked her off for a couple of weeks. Hopefully she will have a few more weeks there as the song continues to explode at CHR and Hot AC, with continued nice gains at Rhythmic and AC. 100 million in estimated audience is right around the corner.

Well said. Another perfect example of how the industry jerks itself off using something that only a small margin of listeners even know or care about.
