Video Of Original WTIC-TV Signon In 1957!

On Youtube I came across a video of WTIC-TV (now WFSB) of a signon. But not just any signon. According to the person who posted the video, it was "the very first time" the station signed on in 1957!

Interesting that this should surface on what would be the 50th anniversary of the station! This would date the video September 21, 1957.

After the National Anthem is an announcement from some guy from the Travelers Insurance Company that owned the station (hence the call letters) who is clearly reading from a TelePrompTer...

Anyway, enjoy this gem!

(Now if someone were to post the old Ella T Grosso memorial SSB from the current WTIC-TV, that would rock too!)

A gem without question--and just in time for 3's 50th birthday. I would ask that WFSB brass be contacted immediately--but I may think 1 of 2 possibilities:

1) They don't want to be bothered with the past--BOO!

2) They have a copy in their archives--HMM!

It was not Hilton Kaderli. Hilton worked in Washington DC before her came to Hartford. Charlie Bagley was older than he was. Bob Steele appeared on their air that day, but it wasn't him either.
