Voice of Guyana and RSG in the 90m band.

On SW, I do enjoy picking up the domestic services.

It's been ages since I've listened to VoG and how could I resist a station which spins the mellow tones of Engelbert Humperdinck, eh? Now, that's something you don't hear on SW radio everyday! :D VoG can be heard, commercials and all (through the crackling lightening), throwing out a whopping 5 kW, on 3290 kHz. Streaming here ~> http://s1.myradiostream.com/56188.htm

30 kHz up the band, on 3320, South Africa's domestic Afrikaans service, Radio Sonder Grense, can also be heard through the clutter. It streams here ~> http://www.rsg.co.za/speler.asp

I believe you, but for me, hearing Guyana 3290 from south Florida has always been nearly-impossible! Maybe the signal leaps over me to you.

I caught the VOG stream before....I think that their Friday morning music was nice. Beats that Hot 98.1. But then I'm >50.

From SudAfrika, there used to be Radio Oranje on SW (defunct?)....I do recall them playing the calm ballad "Al di La." Also Radio 5 used to be on SW. That CHR is still around, no?

Guyana is still very much there on 3290, if you (or any one else) want to give a go! I can pick it up here, right now, 'barefoot'.

As for South Africa, yes, there's been many changes since the end of the 'apartheid' governments. I remember catching one of the SABC English language domestic services, on a number of occasions, broadcasting in (or around) the 90m band. Getting the morning traffic reports from Capetown and/or Victoria/Pretoria was pretty exotic, back in the day!

What a coincidence, the VOG website http://www.voiceofguyana.com/ has been hacked, and the stream is offline :-\

The stream works for me, but once the stand alone player gets going, I have to shut down the VoG web page...other wise I get numerous (as in many!) streams playing at the same time.

I can just barely get VoG at the moment, as there's some pretty serious (presumed) micro-wave action going on with 3290 kHz.
