WADA Moving Studios Back to Shelby - History of HRN, Piedmont Superstations, etc

The Shelby Star reports that 1390 WADA is moving back to Shelby from HRN HQs in Lincolnton with Calvin Hastings and his company buying -

Related to this story, can someone explain the evolution of when WOHS, WCSL, WLON, and WGNC ceased to be totally independent and totally contained within their repsective COLs? I believe all of these stations first began simulcasting (except for local HS sports) as the Piedmont Superstations but who was the first owner of this group? The history of this group of stations has begun to intrigue me since the news of WOHS applying to move COL to Cramerton.

I guess Calvin is feeling better. I had heard he wasn't feeling well awhile back. This is what radio stations are supposed to do instead of trying to compete outside their service area. I wish the station much success.
