WAIM-AM 1230 in Anderson getting national attention about crazy Morning Man.....

WAIM-AM 1230 in Anderson is getting national attention after station owner and Morning Man Rick Driver has constantly being bashing local Anderson County Administrator Joey Preston. the fued has gotten very, very ugly...... Driver pulled an old 1962 Greyhound Bus out of a local junkyard and took a bus load of WAIM-AM listeners to the Columbia State Capital to see the govenor about Joey Preston`s buyout!!! The bus broke down SEVERAL times before reaching Columbia! The Governor refused to see them and Driver was charging them for the bus ride and for lunch! The bus even broke down back to Anderson! They are now calling this The Beverly Hillbillies go to Columbia!!!! This local hertiage AM station is once again lighting a fire on the town!!! The County tapes each Morning Show and is trying to sue Driver! Has anyone heard about this circus??? Who says that radio is not liveand local anymore???

agreed car-radio. i think a couple of the tv stations did a quick story about the bus to columbia. i wouldn't call that national. i'm going to make the switch to waim. they take care of their listeners in style. when the bus broke down, many were seen running into the woods for a minute.

i don't know how national this story is, but it sure is funny.
 
Until I had seen this story here, I had not heard about it and I live in Columbia and the local stations and their web sites have said nothing about it so it must be something local to the Anderson market because it has not been broadcast locally or nationally.

if i understand, the county council in anderson voted to buy out the county administrator's contract including paying off the rest of a suv that he drives for a big price tag at taxpayers expense. i don't see what the big deal is. congress is doing the same thing to the entire nation with their bailouts.
 
I am not saying it is right, but that is politics and really see nothing that worthy of that kind of a protest and that is more than likely why we heard nothing about here in Columbia
 
It has been on a few national outlets. It is getting more and more crazy!!!! Go to www.andersontalkzone.com and read all about it!!! And yes, his WAIM-AM 1230 Magical Mystery Bus is a 1962 bus that he pulled out of a local junkyard and had repaired!!! He charges his WAIM listeners $50 bucks a pop to ride on it!!! They are going back to Columia next week!!! It broke down 6-7 going back and forth to Columbia on Wednesday and even has 2 flat tires!!!! This is funny stuff!!! These people are like the Darlings off of The Andy Griffith show. And yes, 93 FM has pulle dlive pranks on them before! By the way, station owner Rick Driver walks around Anderson dressed in retro Kentucky Col.`s outfit-alot like KFC`s Col. Sanders!!!! Who says that local radio is no fun anymore??????????
 
By the way, y`all can go to www.1230waim.com to hear this crazy stuff.... The Morning Show with this nutty Rick Driver airs between 6-10 AM weekdays. It makes me laugh harder than anything that I have EVER heard before!!!

inquiring minds want to know at least one national outlet. we think you can't come up with one and document it. there is a poster at the anderson talk zone site named andersonretro that types and writes like you goodtimes and made just about all the posts on that site. keep on trying. maybe you can get this stupid story some more media.
 
MSNBC is one national media outlet. They got the story from WYFF-TV Your Friend Four-NBC. This is a great story!!!

i do not believe that. i also searched those websites and found nothing. i think channel 7 did a story but not sure. can you provide a link to a national media outlet like you did the retro anderson talk page to prove that this story is sweeping the nation at a frenzied pace? lol
