Walter Sabo Speaks Out On WEMP To NY Daily News

TOUGH room!

At least ONE outspoken radio-info denizen isn't dumping-on this new station.

Few self-appointed media critics have been as-scathing-as MedianJ has been, apropos other spoken word FMs.

It's refreshing that, in this case, he/she has chosen to as-patient-as we all know New Yorkers to be.

Could it be the reason for his/her silence on WEMP is because it is the brainchild and is programmed by MedianJ's apparent all time programming consultant hero, Walt Sabo?

It seems most, if not all, of MedianJ's posts were fairly transparent attempts to have Sabo return to consulting NJ-101.5. But, with Sabo now the top programming executive for Merlin Media, and NJ-101.5 now owned by rival big bucks backed Townsquare, that ain't ever going to happen.

Hopefully, MedianJ understands the reality of the situation and has directed his/her hopes and dreams elsewhere. I think his/her recent silence is a sign that he/she gets it, and has moved on to more potentially fruitful things to think about and wish for. Good for whomever MedianJ really is.

"Radio is a business, not a hobby."

Conspiracy theories abound, but I think everyone here should stop picking on Young Walteaux, our youthful amigo.

Holland Cooke, to kind of paraphrase William Shakespeare twice, "Me thinks, thou dost protest too much!" and "a rose by any other name is still a rose" no matter what name they post under.

Given that his/her (seriously, what are the chances it's a her on this board??) favorite Sabo scenario can't possibly happen, if MedianJ feels picked on, perhaps a new user name would provide a fresh start with the gang here. Perhaps, MedianJ has already made that kind of a wise move and should let the old user name fade to black forever ASAP.

What if it turns out radio IS a hobby?

In Bill Murray lounge singer delivery:
"Misty watercolor MEMMMORIES..."

Seriously, CAN it be that it was all so simple then?
Or has time re-written every line?

If we had the chance to do it all again, tell me: Should we? Would we?

We already have "all-news." WHY NOT "all-shoes?"

Haha, perfect!... It "fits". ;D

As much as Holland should take credit for that zinger, I've actually seen that line being bandied about on Twitter right after 101.9 flipped from rock to... whatever the interim format was supposed to be. ::)

It has a feel similar to the old NBC "Monitor" show. They do a lot of lifestyle pieces that are not NYC-specific, and, quite frankly, not very interesting.

Some might consider NJ101.5 to be in competition with this new station and I do find it interesting that Median directed most of his venom at NJ101.5. Almost seemed like an attempt to make NJ101.5 look bad

Trying to make something look bad so something else looks good is a poor strategy. The focus should solely be on making one's self look good and sound good.

Finally, considering that Median has repeatedly referenced Walter Sabo and how great he is, I am surprised Median has not commented on his thoughts on Walter's new venture.
