About 1:00am tonight I hear Wofford vs. Gardner-Webb football replayed on 1530AM from this afternoon.
Usually at night here in NC, 1530 is the station from Cincinnati with which yall are all familiar, I think it's latest call letters are WCKY, aka 1530 Homer The Sports Animal.
There is a 1530 in Spartanburg, SC too, but it plays urban gospel from what I can find.
There's no mention of the SC football donnybrook on the WCKY website.
I listened for almost a half-hour and never heard a station ID or any hint at what station it was, only a mention of "Broadcast Management Services" running the game, a Gateway Conference football promo/psa (all the teams seemed to be from Ohio/Illinois), and something about Clear Channel. No other commercials.
Other than that, it was just tape of the announcers, no crowd noise, and they didn't seem to pause for any radio timeouts except when the third quarter changed.
So was it really WCKY, anyone know? I'm just curious.
If it was 1530 from Cincinnati, it seemed weird to be hearing a Big South Conference football game from South Carolina on a station from Ohio at 1am. If it was the 1530 from South Carolina, it would be weird too because it's a daytimer urban gospel station.
But I guess stranger things have happened....
