WAS OFF THE AIR TODAY APRIL 11, 2012 8AM THIS MORNING

As I was pasing through Fields Corner (By train) going towards Ashmont, that's where I start picking up most of the Pirate Stations in this area.
Big City 101.3 was off the air, as well as when I arrived in Ashmont Train station.
Touch 106.1 was still on
I don't know about if Choice 102.9 was still on. Haven't listen to them in a long time

I don't know if Choice still operates--it may have gone silent long ago--but here on the North Shore I can pick up the simulcast of WNNW 800 on 102.9. The Power800am.com site prominently mentions they're also on 102.9...at least up that way

i know you all don't support these stations, and I don't blame you all, you all have your right.
We also have our right to listen to them, despite that they are breaking rulls with FCC.
But let me tell you, everyday people, driving down Dorchester AVE, Galivan Blvd, Dudley Square, my current coworkers I work with, my former coworkers (no, not my friends) they listen to Touch 106.1, amd Big City 101.3. Because there are outlets in this city to listen for this music. Yeah, Magic 106.7 plays Shaggy, and Maxi Priest, as I said in another post, if they're going to advertise their station to those neighborhoods, they should consider playing more Urban AC. They used to play a lot back in the day including Hi Five, and Luther Vandros.

Yeah, they serve the community, but they're still breaking the law. Sometimes they infringe on legit signals, aircraft radio, etc.

They are in the same category as drug dealers and burglars: they are doing illegal things. At
least here in Mass. we can use our EBT cards (for now) to bail us out of jail when we get caught
for dealing heroin. This is a great state! :) Perhaps they can use their EBT cards to pay the
FCC fines.
Let's see if a pirate sets up shop on 105.9 or 106.3 and suddenly your beloved 106.1 is getting
stepped on. Why not? One good lawbreaker deserves another.

Maybe people can break other laws and get away with it, too. Drive 30 miles over the speed
limit. Sell drugs to school kids. Why not? They're allowing illegal broadcasters (Touch) to stay on.
Who needs laws?

if you quality for EBT you are poor enough to apply for a reduction in fines - quite a few have been reduced to 300-dollar area

Some pirate operators bargained down their fines--inability to pay.

How much money do such illegal operations bring in via advertising?
Some claim on their websites to be an LPFM. LPFMs aren't allowed to run ads, though.

Do they report income to the IRS?

I think we should "OCCUPY" all of the legal stations until they pay off all the fines of the pirates. Who's with me? I'll call Limo Lizzy to make sure that we do it right.

They are not, NOT, n-o-t specifically advertising to those neighborhoods. Unlike the Red, Blue, Orange or Green line who can only go where their rails are, those buses can be used in Mattapan or they can travel into Marblehead. Even if MAGIC did target those neighborhoods you mention, whose to say there aren't people in those neighborhoods who actually LIKE the station?? You don't have to black to like hip-hop, you don't have to be white to AC and you don't have to be a country bumpkin to like country.

Choice 102.9 was on last night. they use a hilarious distorted snippet from an 80s Pepsi ad as a drop "The Choice Of A New Generation" plus copious reverb. It sounds like a troll or gremlin with a raspy voice. I was dying laughing in the car on my way through Uphams Corner

hmm, not that they'd be able to come in on the North Shore/Merrimack Valley. The simulcast of
800 from Lawrence was loud and clear...

Ha! Insult to injury--bad enough they step on some legit stations but I think they would def.
object to having to pay fines for pirates :)

10a R. Teleboston 100.1 almost the haitian WATD.

a detailed weather report, with temperatures in Fahrenheit exclusively, for Boston, Ft Meyers & Miami florida, Mexico City, and Paris. a segment on 'vendredi treize' aka Friday 13th, discussion of various american superstitions such as elevators never having a 13th floor. some educational tidbits on Mystic, CT and a foray into 18th-century mail delivery and the Pony Express

noticed a really good drummer on 95.3 and decided to wait for ID, only to be ushered into a special guest, Blue Note Records label manager and founder of Mosaic. talking about massive vaults of unreleased Blue Note 16" lacquers in LA, the atrocities done to the original 3-track recordings when remastered to LP in the 50s
