WBRE/WYOU and the dispute with Adams Cable/Service Electric

Does anybody know the details about this?

I'm assuming this is going on at the local level, but apparently these cable companies are being too bull-headed to even make a deal as simple as a penny per day per subscriber to WBRE/WYOU.

BTW, when did Adelphia Cable change hands to Service Electric?

to be headquartered out of College Station, Texas. Then
Cox Communications came into the market and had big plans to
consolidate all the systems. They couldn't and pulled out.
The major frustration was the way some of the local cable
companies ran their systems, like little fiefdoms. It wasn't
worth the time and effort so they just said goodbye.
On the Adams WBRE/WYOU dispute, Beale's Bites has done
some pretty comprehensive things on it. Here's that link:

It's my understanding (correct or not) that SETV always paid the local stations for carring their signal. But not in $$. They gave the locals free spots in trade. My guess is that Channel 50 needs the cash at this point.
______________

From my understanding, under new FCC rules recently enacted (well I'm not sure how recent), cable companies can now charge local stations for carriage rights or in lieu of that, allow another dial spot for the station to use. This is what Adelphia did with WNEP and its channel 63.

Adelphia is not part of SETV. Under a bankruptcy court agreement, Adelphia is to be split in different parts of the country to either Times Warner or Comcast.

Our local Adelphia is going to be Comcrap, er uh, Comcast.
______________
