I ahve listene alot today toWBRF-FM 98.1d they have been playing LOTS of Good-Time Oldies and No Country! This afternoon!!! I don`t know if the switch is full time (yet, anyway). But, it doesn`t take a rocket scientist to see that WBRF is plying more and mre Odies, and less and less Country! Looks like Mr. Tom Collins IS taking the station all Oldies. They plyed some great stuff today like 60 Min. Man by Billy Ward, "There`s A thrill Up On The Hill" By Hnk Ballard And The Midnighters and "Laurie Strange Things Happen By Dickie Lee!! Looks like WBRF is going to be one hell of an Oldies station VERY soon!

GTGO

Let's go over this again FOR THE THIRTY TRILLIONTH TIME!

WBRF airs Charlie Brown's "On the Beach" EVERY SATURDAY AFTERNOON FROM 2-5

http://www.blueridgecountry98.com/virginiaradiostation.aspx

They have been doing this FOR A LONG TIME and they HAVEN'T CHANGED FORMATS. This is called SPECIAL or SPECIALTY PROGRAMMING. When Mix 101.5 carries a State game, it does not mean they are changing formats to all-sports. Using your logic, one could conclude that WBRF may soon become a GOSPEL or RELIGIOUS station, as they also carry religious and gospel shows (see above link)

Last time I tuned them in on a Sunday, they played a commercial.
Is Tom Collins driving them toward an all-commercial format?
That's what the Triad needs!

I'm thinking all OLDIES commercials. Ads for products that existed in the 60's and 70's, but not today

Rumor has it from some sources that since Bobby Thomson was in the news the other week for passing away, and now this Secretariat movie coming out, that 98.7 Simon is going capitalize on that newsworthiness and top-of-mind awareness to change to an Oldies Sports format.
Mostly from the 50s, but nothing past 1989!

Actually, WBRF-FM 98.1 is not only airing Charlie Brown`s "OnThe Beach" on Saturday Afternoons, but now also on late Sunday afternoons (like Majic 94.1 did). It looks like more and more Oldies/Beach are being played.....

First, he's not worthy of being called "Mr. Collins". Just call him Wilbur. Somehow, it's much more fitting.
Second, no matter what he does as far as oldies are concerned, it will pose absolutely NO threat to any other radio station anywhere! He's clueless! Got it?? CLUELESS!

Why is everybody so obsessed with Tom Collins. If he is such a looser why do the you guys keep posting about him? I have listened to WBRF on line and there is nothing similar to any kind of oldies on that station. They do play On The Beach with Charlie Brown on Saturday afternoons and on occasions they move it to Sunday when Wake plays Saturday afternoon. Gees guys give it up! WBRF isn't going oldies, WFDD isn't going oldies, WIST didn't go oldies, WSMW is not going oldies, but I'm not sure that WSJS isn't going old news!

WFDD isn't going oldies? My reliable sources (voices in my head) told me so.

Yes they are! Most of those songs are more than 200 years old!

I make a pledge to radio-info.com......everyone just stop responding to GoodTimesGreatOldies

Every single time I read these forums I go up and down and see this meaningless, uninformed, and delirious topics that are made by this ass clown. Next time everyone sees a "This Station's Going All OldieS!!!! Heard it today!!!!!!!!" Just please nobody reply to it....that way it will sift it's way to the bottom of the forum and stop fueling this goon's attempt to hope that a GreatOldies!!!! Station is coming to this area of NC.
