WBWL Changes Playlist Slightly With Addition Of Acoustic CHR Titles

Correct. Money. Who would pay a radio station to play alternative music? Nobody. That's my point.
And, not only that, I'll bet nobody can name a commercial station that converted to AA/alternative in the last decade that can be considered, today, profitable and successful.

While I’m sure none are market leaders, but I’d imagine KITS, KVIL, and WKQX should be profitable, no?

Not that this matters much. iHeart is trying something a little different in Boston. If it moves the needle, maybe they go more in a Country/Hot AC hybrid direction. The two formats share a lot of audience in younger demos.

Well, the listeners to WERS, if we're being technical about it. Plus if you want to go really alternative, Boston has an abundance of college radio. Plus WXRV.

That's about all the alternative that market's going to get, the leftovers aren't worth it for any commercial signal.

Whatever the hell that is, it's all over the place. Who would abandon the existing Mix for that?
It was modelled on the same format in Tucson. I’m pretty sure it was designed to try and drag the females away from Hubbards (Phoenix) alternative station. I think it’s been around for about 12 months, and it’s slowly building an audience from what I’ve seen. It’s currently just behind Hubbard’s auto station.
