WBZ Morning News at 4:30 AM Starts Monday 5/10

This will actually be the second 4:30 AM newscast in Boston, because NECN began one a few weeks ago.

I'm willing to bet that the other stations will soon follow suit.

WBZ will air the CBS Morning News at 4:00 AM, which I guess must be when they feed it.

I'm also pretty sure that Early TODAY is fed at 4:00, because that's what time WVIT runs it.

I'm not sure when America This Morning is fed.

It's only a matter of time. It's interesting that the local cable news channel actually got a jump on the local broadcast stations in this regard...

And if you think news starting at 4:30 AM is unorthodox, it's just starting to become the norm. Read this:

I think anything before 5 am is overkill, unless there's a major hurricane or blizzard approaching the area.

I bet you in about a year or two from now, we're going to be talking about stations that will now be starting their weekday morning newscasts at 4 AM. And the network morning newscasts - much like their venerable early-evening counterparts - will be considered irrelevant.

Not shocked here - I've noticed the early start times on the daily schedule logs in the big 3 cities. In addition, my DirecTV has the daily schedules of the "Big 4" affiliates in 2 of those big 3 - NY and LA - not that I actually got those stations, except when DirecTV blacked out the Boston stations last fall for a day or two.
