WBZ RADIO LOSES CREDIBILITY- CENSORS NEWS

WBZ has lost all credibility as an all news radio station.
It fired veteran newscaster, Flo Jonic, for reporting that the FBI One Center Plaza has terrorist security problems.

The FBI objected and WBZ RADIO folded under FBI pressure.


Wonder if the FBI listening room on the machine floor at the Prudential Building - between The Skywalk and the Top Of Hub Restaurant - is also a security risk.

Go to the Skywalk and watch the "plain clothed " FBI agents take the "closed" stairs one flight up. This has been an open secret for years.

As to WBZ - they cannot be trusted to deliver uncensored news ever again.

Bet they won't allow Paul Sullivan or Steve Leveille to talk about it.

More censorship at WBZ Radio.

Why not just let the government run WBZ. Seems they already do.

regardless of a programming decision on the story/non-story, regardless of WBZ policy and the whether or not Viacom got involved, regardless of free speech issues or the right to blah blah blah, the point is simply this:

an employee was fired because of actions taken internally that may have gone directly against Human Resource policy of operation. As the article states, one employee said it best - "embarrassing management is generally not the best way to keep your job."

Jonic has the right to get another job if she wants. According to company policy, she does not have the right to attack in the manner in which she did.

Sometimes "security concerns" compel us to have to do things like
this but you wonder if it could lead to a "police state".

I couldn't disagree with you more....

In post 9-11, it's a dangerous idea to uncover insecurities in the FBI, since that in itself makes them vulnerable.

Second, Flo is notorious of this, and was subordinate to management.

That's what makes this kind of interesting: I, too, am concerned about our enemies getting info about things like this. It indeed is a war we're involved in.
But also it's interesting how the press has to lose some of its power in this
respect. The founding fathers (the "Framers", as Gene Burns used to call them)
showed concern about the power of a free press.

But in war, especially war like what we're dealing with now, sometimes you have to give up a little of that power for the common good. It's important to have a free press to keep our government from usurping too much power from the people (the
REAL holders of this power) but we need the government to keep us secure. The right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. And security (but at what cost?
again, a slippery slope). As a fed employee myself this affects me in many ways.
Because of the terrorists, my employer--the Postal Service--has to put things
like anthrax emergency plans/equipment into play. We had a drill to show us what would happen if the mail processing equipment were to detect anthrax (and
supposedly it's pretty goofproof). OK, get into the decontamination tent,
don't think about leaving and oh, the facility will be closed a good year
or two, etc.

A couple postal workers paid the ultimate price in the post 9/11 world when
exposure to anthrax <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/aponline/20011023/aponline134503_000.htm">
swiftly killed them</a> . "Homeland security" can scare
some civil libertarians but it's necessary these days.

WBZ should not be in the business of CENSORING NEWS.
They are done in this community as a legitimate news station.

Flo Jonic should get an award for blowing the whistle on WBZ.

I could not disagree with you more.
No compromising on Freedom of The Press.
Once we do the enemy ( who ever that is this week) has already won.
Do you feel any more secure now that 16 more fine American Reservist died in Iraq today? I certainly do not.
As to the issue. If the FBI tried to spike the story because of their mismanagement they must be exposed for everyone's safety in Government Center as well as the FBI 's secret office on top of the Prudential Center.

Again it's not easy to choose but in a war we may have to give a little bit.
I, too, am uneasy about Freedom of the Press being infringed on but in these
times...

I feel safer knowing a bunch of terrorists have been killed or rounded
up and Saddam is out of power. yes it is truly tragic about the American
reservists but that is the price of war. Should we have tried to stop
Hitler or just do nothing?

Bad BZ..very Bad and shame on the rest of you for touting support for this so-caled war time and yet you chit chat facts that would have compromised national securty. Flo probably did find something to embarass this Administration.....and her meltdown to management gave them exactly what they needed to get rid of her.
But yet the right calls this media "liberal".....this is another example of how the right has it both ways... Infinity and other media conglomerates owe the GOP big time....thats why they cower so much to this administration....

Im glad she found something, that means there still some real card carrying fact finding real journalists out there....

Flo, come to AAR!!! or go to an progressive organization that will let you expose the people for the failures they are in this Administration.
