WBZR 105.9 Atmore & WBZR-AM 1000 Robertsdale sold to Texas-based company

Reading about all those call letter changes made my head s-s-s-spin. Now the station just needs to go back to the WXWY calls in order to complete the "circle of confusion". :D

Mario has a logo for Dixie 1000 on that article that says gospel. Are they really returning to gospel with that country-sounding name!?

100.1 actually has a good signal for 1 watt. I've heard it for several blocks around the Mediacom cable office in "downtown" Gulf Shores. On a good day it can reach The Hangout.

I always liked the sound of the name WDXZ Dixie 1000. Glad it came back to Robertsdale. I wonder if there's any chance in hell of the Americana format returning (hopefully with a FM translator on top of one of the area's tall towers).

Hey Zach, how many watts could a Dixie 1000 translator run from the current site/height of the 101.1 translator?

Oh gosh, not much. That Channel 44 tower is probably outside the 2 mV/m contour. You know how bad our ground conductivity is! :D

I'd love to see 250 watts from the AM tower itself. It's just south of Robertsdale and would cover them, Loxley and probably Summerdale quite well. Oh, and Silverhill.

I couldn't get this typed out in my last post because I was stuck escorting my dear sweet smo…mother on a shopping excursion in Mobile, but 100.3 won't move to 99.3 because of W258AY on 99.5. And you know what? Clear Channel's WNTM 710 is listed as the parent! It's still showing as owned by Edgewater, but I bet CC will eventually acquire it. 99.5 has a CP for 250 watts from the now-gone Prichard tower (coverage) which if built would cover a lot of the city.

95.7 is now off the books, too, as Wilkins has it running a simulcast of WIJD/1270. It's incredibly weak but it IS on the air. Although from where, who knows…

It's just a shame for an AM to be located so close to all those 2345 foot tall towers and not have a translator up on top now-a-days. 1110 from Bay Minette needs to find a translator too. I bet those folks up in the county seat would be tickled pink to have their own little local FM again.

Mobile and Pensacola are just sucking all the juice out of the non-waterfront parts of Baldwin County.
